Using steam link only for input devices
Hello steam link community!

I want to play my PC games through my 4K TV at 4K resolution. My PC can handle it just fine and I can run a HDMI cable from my PC to my TV.

When it comes to the controllers, this is where I get problems. Due to the walls of my house, the bluetooth receiver for my xbox one controller doesn't reach my living room :(.

I was wondering if I could use my steam link to just stream the input from my xbox one controller and bluetooth keyboard/mouse. I know I can remove video/audio streaming on the steam link and only run the input.

My idea would be to do this and then change the input on my TV to the HDMI and play at 4K while controlling my PC through the steam link.

Does anybody know if this would work? Can anyone tell me if they have tried this and succeeded?

Thanks in advance.

Can't think of a reason it wouldn't. If you've already got a Steam Link why not just try?

I just want to know if somebody has tried this with success just in case I encounter a problem.

Did you every try this out to see if it worked? I'm facing a similar problem.

Bump. facing a similiar issue. I tried disabling video & audio output through steam link but then I'd lose the video signal completely on my native screen. So while I'd like to assume there is a workaround available, at the moment it doesnt appear to be so. Could be wrong though but I'll have to dig deeper who knows..

Nevermind got it working, so to answer the original OP yes it does work if you plan to use a controller exclusively as the M&K functionality is lost when disabling video output. <---- My Problem

Update: To clarify I am attempting to use the Steamlink "exclusively" as a kind of wireless USB hub to bring with me to my Native PC-HDMI (Long cable) connected 4k TV. The M&K inputs work fine "only" when I leave the video stream toggle fuction turned on otherwise I lose their functionality and am limited to using controllers which continue to work. I would like to leave video output turned off to free up network bandwith and keep vsync enabled but I lose M&K functionality and thats a real bugger. Wonder if the VirtualShare software would help fix this or not...?
