Audio driver update broken on Mac

I'm trying to launch steam on my mac from Steam Link, but every time I try I get a prompt saying that audio drivers need updating. I update, and restart (it's required after install), relaunch Steam, and then I get the same audio driver prompt when I try to connect via Steam Link. Rinse and repeat, again and again.

How do I fix it?

ok then, I tried yesterday and I have the same install audio driver loop.

Valve knws about it and they're gonna fix it, sooner or later.

for windows the flaging of audidrivers dose not seem to work any more tried it today and still no sound for me less i am missing out and did somthing wrong. to me wrote steam told them i want my money back less they can help me fix the problem. cause i use my steam link to listen to my apple music in other rooms and stream videos from computer. well did tell the sound glitch

Has this been solved at all? I got a steam link for my birthday and I have a mac and do not know how to bypass this at all.

Work around
settings-streaming- advanced options - audios streaming- (select disable)
you will not have sound through your TV but if you're using a MacBook Pro you can connect your speakers or headset. Either way you can at least play on the bigger screen until they fix the bug.

unfortunetly this hasnt worked for me using a mac

From what I understand, the issue is with Apple security. I'm no expert, cannot explain the techincal reasons why, and might indeed have got this wrong, but in typical Apple fashion, they do not allow third-party drivers full control. Those drivers need to configure themselves within the Mac's architecture. Once the third party has done this, it should work fine.

The problem is that when Apple push out their annual updates, the architecture changes to a degree that renders those drivers useless as the Mac's security rejects them. The third-party then has to recreate thier drivers to be compliant, so therefore makes more work for them.

I realise this only provides some background and does zilch to help people. However, Steam contacted me and informed me they are aware of the issue and working on a fix, which will likely come on the beta first. So it will be a matter of patience and keeping an eye on the beta update log. The 'no audio' fix worked for me. I'm using a bluetooth speaker for the time being.

Hi. If you are asking for a solution, I'm sorry, but I cannot help. I really wish I could as I am just using my own workaround with an external bluetooth speaker. It is far from ideal and I am hoping for a fix soon

I would sugegest just using the video for the time being. Turn off the audio and either play it from your Mac or an external speaker until a fix is released.

It is not clear where to turn off the sound if it requires driver installation and does not want to proceed to the next step ((

Hello everyone so the workaround that i did:

1. open terminal
2. /Applications/Steam.app/Contents/MacOS/steam_osx -skipstreamingdrivers

hopefully the fix will come out soon

On the Link, go to Streaming, and then Advanced Options. You can disable audio from there and therefore skip the driver update requests.
