Steam Link

Destiny 2?
I can't get the Link to recognize a controller while playing Destiny 2. It acts as if I'm still on the desktop once the game has loaded, and when the controller does work (when configuration is checked in settings on the link) it still functions as if I'm on the desktop.

I'm running the game through a non-steam game shortcut, and tried it with and without an extra battlenet exe that immediately starts d2 rather than me having to press the play button on the launcher. I've tried having the game running on the computer and then starting the stream, and with both a 360 and dualshock4 controllers in and out of configuration mode.

Super bummed right now as this is a perfect couch game, any one else having an issue?

Thank you! the 12 dollar price tag was a bit much to swallow and I was trying to get confirmation from someone that I'd be able to get a refund if it didn't work, since steam's policy is normally "no."

Sorry for the delay everyone else who was waiting.

It works, but it is not smooth(on the steam link)...but I don't think virtualhere is to blame. I ran the game on the steam link with virtualhere turned off and just plugged the controller directly into my computer. I could control, but it was not a smooth experience. I just set up moonlight on my amazon fire tv (gen 1) and streamed it that way...worked perfect regarding the FPS. I was using virtualhere over a raspberry pi for the controls(which worked fine to). So it looks like this is a problem with D2 and the steam link not playing well together. Right now, moonlight on an andriod device performs perfect, and is way better than the steam link.

How did you add Destiny 2 to Moonlight for streaming? Meaning which file did you add to GFE?

Moonlight automatically adds steam, so I selected steam from moonlight, and then selected destiny. I don’t understand why there is such a difference.

Ok, got it to work pretty good. I have a GTX 1060. I checked Use NVFBC capture on NVIDIA GPU and it runs smooth now. So, virtualhere allows me to use a XBOX360 controller with Destiny 2 on the steam link.

Bought it myself, and can confirm it also works for me with a dualshock 4 wired connection, didnt really play around with trying to get the wireless to work and dont even know if thats something the software will/can do.

As for smoothness, I was finally able to hit my target 20-25 ms delay by changing destiny's settings to medium, at 720p res and Steam's settings to auto bandwidth, balanced streaming, NVFBC capture. I still get spikes in the social areas but am able to play through the missions (tested with Breaking the Unbreakable, where you fight Thumos) without any noticeable spikes.

Using a gtx960 with an i5 4690k 16gig ram. Pretty sure I can tweak the settings to basically get to high @720p with about the same performance but haven't made the effort yet.

I have settled on 900p. This is the only game I have that I need to reduce streaming resolution to keep latency below 25ms...but..,it works!

So I haven't messed with getting it to stream to the Steam Link, but I was able to get it streaming between 2 PC's and I got controller support working. I created a video of it, and I'll post it here in case anything I figured out gives anyone ideas about how to work it into their own setup.

When I try and stream through steam in home or steam link all i get is a black screen with music and control focus.. :(

anyone else have experienced (or even better overcome) that issue?

Even with virtualhere it doesn't work well with a controller. I'll stick to a wireless keyboard and mouse to play on my couch

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just got a Steam Link (hardwired, working great) and I'm considering getting Destiny 2 for PC. Is it working well with a keyboard and mouse that's connected to the Steam Link?

I’ve got a PS4 controller that works just fine in Destiny 2 when plugged right into my PC, but doesn’t work at all through the steam link with virtualhere. Does virtualhere have to be running in steam at the tile, or just in the background on my pc?

I'll add one more option for people just in case you need something else for Destiny 2 Streaming. There is a new streaming App called Parsec.tv that is the best streaming option that I've found so far for Destiny 2. It has almost no detectable lag and it doesn't require setting up VirtualHere. The Controller works right out of the box. So if you're still struggling to stream Destiny 2, you might look into Parsec. It's been awesome so far.

I tried parsec with raspberry pie. The Xbox controller was not mapped correctly(the analog sticks and button didn’t all work as they should). Mouse keyboard worked though. There is no ui, so it isn’t really that great for couch playing. But, it does seem promising.

need some virtualhere help.

so as many others i have a wired xbox controller. i have a steam link and purchased the virtualhere via steam store. when i turn on link, controller works fine. i ensure the virtualshre is enabled. as soon as i connect to PC. controller no longer works. if i plug controller into PC directly it works fine.

any ideas?
