Video Streaming (Amazon/Netflix...) Issues
I'm trying to set up my Steam Link so I can stream Amazon/Netflix at 1080p and I've run into a number of issues. If anyone's got any suggestions about how to do this, I'd be very much grateful!

After a bit of research I found out that the only way to stream at 1080p on Windows 10 is to use Edge or IE. I know, stupid right?... So, I set up Edge and encounter my first issue. Because Edge is a Windows 10 App, there's no easy way of getting an .exe for it that I can add to my steam library.

Despite this, I accepted using Edge on Desktop Mode and loaded things up. Second issue... When I tried streaming Amazon video I found that the audio would play but the screen would be black. This is despite the advert playing correctly before and other services like YouTube and 4od working.

Having done some digging, I think the Amazon issue is to do with DRM (mostly to do with the fact that the video is playing on the monitor connected to the PC I'm streaming from).

Like I said, if anyone has an easy way of getting 1080p streams to work for on demand video, that'd be much appreciated.

Did you manage to sort this out?

Nope... Making do with streaming from Chrome in desktop mode. Any ideas?

I have looked into workarounds using plex and kodi, but ran into a wall with regards to the drm video output.
I eventually gave up and use my cheap android TV box if I want to watch Netflix.

To run Edge from Steam, you could use GloSC:

https://alia5.github.io/GloSC/

It mainly lets you use your steam controller as an joypad on desktop games, but it also puts Windows Store apps links into Steam (which combined let you also play Store games with Steam Controller through Steam Link)

Regarding Amazon/Netflix, however, I fear there's now way out of the DRM..

What kind of Operating System does the Link run?

Would you be able to install Android apps? If so, you could just install the Amazon Video app and then play via that.

Definitely not Android ;)

There is a part of the forum dedicated to apps developed to be installed in the Steam Link:

At the moment, only MAME and an unstable version of Kodi are available.

What I'd love to use the Steam Link for, would be to use it as an Amazon Video machine.
