Steam Link

Link issues with controller and audio
I've been having two issues with my steam link, the first is audio and the second is controller support.

The audio will often mute and I have to exit big picture and un mute the sound from the control panel. This is a sometime fix, as sometime the sound just doesn't work.

The controller issues I have is that the controller try's to act as a keyboard or mouse(I'm using an Xbox 360 controller, I've tried a wired, wireless 360 and same for the Xbox one controller). Now you may go well is it the games you are playing? No it's games that come with controller support like stardew valley where the right trigger acts as the right trigger and the left as left for the game and a right click and left click and that the joysticks act as the mouse controller and game cursor will cause issues.

I'd like some help on solving both these issues. Is it because I'm not using a steam link controller?

Maybe try relinking your buttons in steam link settings? And update to the latest steam link beta and enable share in virtualhere settings for your controller. Not sure about the audio problem. Maybe update your audio drivers on your pc.

Everything is up to date on both I actually found a solution to both my issues.

The controller issues I took care of by setting the controller from desktop mode into to the actual controller mapping in the steam settings. You just have to show others and pick the right one from templates. For steam games that are modded that need a launcher (which on pic I substituted the mod launcher instead of the actual game) you add them as non steam games and once again disable the desktop configuration on the controller and good to go.

The audio was a different story. Steam link starts with audio, but once I started streaming I would have the issues listed above in my main comment. I tried everything. My solution I found by accident. Once I start streaming I just turn the tv off then back on and audio is fine. Idk if it's my pc or the steam link or the tv(I guess the tv?) but it works every time. I tested it on a bunch of games about 50 times to make sure I wasn't crazy. Idk why but it works.

hopefully this helps some other people.

What TV do you have? Is it connected to the steam link directly or through a HDMI switch or a receiver?

I have a vizio 55" 4K, the exact model eludes me. I have an hdmi cable straight to the tv and then from its optical output to a sound bar.

Soon as I turn it on I have sound but once I start streaming the sound stops working, but once you turn the tv off and then back on while streaming the sound works again.
