Steam Link + Dolphin: No controller passthrough
Hi, been tearing my hair out over this as it seems easy to setup based on a couple of videos I've watched but it just won't work for me.

I've tried a wired xbox 360 controller and a wireless ps4 controller to no avail. I can run any other steam based game using these controllers but as soon as I launch dolphin (with all the full screen, render options etc that people recommend) I get nothing. It doesn't even let me use the gamepad in keyboard/mouse mode like most other people experience.

I've tried setting the controller up through steam link, I've even tried going onto my pc upstairs while dolphin was running, ending the emulation and looking at the controller settings. It doesn't detect that there are any pads available/connected.

So what I think is happening is there is no pass-through from the steam link to the pc, this appears to work on everyone else's computer (based on videos) but not mine.
Nothing I do can get the pad to show up in the dolphin menu. Ideally I'd like to be able to use 4 pads for mario party but even one working would be a decent start.

Running windows 10, latest version of steam and the steam link is up to date.
Hopefully someone has experienced the same, hopefully it's a simple fix before I give up and go back to dragging my pc downstairs for super monkey ball mini golf lol.

Sorry for the wall of text, thanks for reading!

I finally got it to work :-)

It turns out using ICE now doesn't work. You have to individually put the games in like you showed me and everything then worked fine. Ball ache but works now.

Thank you for all of your help :-)

Good to hear!

So when I uncheck Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam controllers in manage shortcut it no longer let's me change the controller configuration for my Xbox one controller. It just says configuration support disabled when I click on it in the dolphin settings.

You need to leave that one ticked. The one you should untick is 'Allow Desktop Configuration in Launcher'.

Shown in this pic, top right.

Thanks, I tried that the other day and it worked, although it was really laggy. I went to try it the next day and all I got was a white screen. I'll have to go through the steps again and see what's wrong but I may just give up considering how laggy it was.

Lag will probably be down to your network. My computer is hardwired to a switch then to the modem/router downstairs. Steam Link connects via ethernet in the living room. It works fine over wifi (steamlink to router) but if you can hard wire it I'd advise that.

You might benefit from turning down the streaming quality as well, check the settings menu before you launch your computer/steam big picture.

Good luck!

I read all the pages but it was a little confuse for me. I have a Xbox One S controller as a bluetooth device on Steam Link. How you guys manage to make it work like a controller and not as a keyboard?

Sorry just seen this.

- Goto steam big picture mode on the steam link or pc.
- Goto settings (top right) then goto 'controller settings'
- Enable 'xbox configuration support'
- Close settings, you might need to reset your steam link for it to take effect.
*after restart*
- Goto the game you want to play in the library (in big picture mode still)
- There's two options on the left, click 'manage game'
- Then click 'controller config'. It should show you the xbox controller. There's an option to load a profile (maybe x, I use a ps controller so it's the square button)
- Choose an appropriate profile for the xbox controller.

If you're doing this to play dolphin, make sure you've selected xinput controllers in the dolphin config/setup. On your pc, create a shortcut to launch dolphin in steam. When on your steam link, connect the controllers you want to use AND a mouse. If you launch the dolphin software on the steam link (using the shortcut you just created on your desktop) you can use the mouse to edit the controller mappings and port assignments. I've been playing 4 player mario party with 4 PS4 controllers all on bluetooth, works flawlessly.

Hope this helps!

My game externsion are ".wbfs".
When I launch a game I have an error message "The specified file "/e" doeesn't exist".

Make sure use fullscreen is selected (dolphin) and also disable "Allow desktop config in launcher" (steam)
Start dolphin up through steam and configure the controller. Works for me.
Also, maybe render to main window may help.

The most improtant to make sure is "allow desktop config in launcher". This needs to be unticked.
To get to this setting, go to manage shortcut in big picture.

Thank you so much! Solved my problem.
