Unable to Configure Multiple Wireless PS3 Controller
I have a steam link and recently I learned that PS3 controllers would work natively with the Steam Link. I have 4 PS3 controllers lying around and wanted to set them up for some couch co-op fun.

I can get all 4 PS3 controllers detected by the Steam Link via Bluetooth just fine. They each operate the Steam Link separately and they show up as 4 devices in the Bluetooth settings.

However, when I begin streaming from an actual PC they don't seem to register as 4 individual controllers. There will be 4 different devices in the controller settings in Big Picture but the other controllers don't do anything and when I use the first controller it triggers multiple inputs. So if I have 2 controllers connected and I press down on the dpad it will move down twice.

I do have generic controller configuration enabled as I need a way to configure the controllers to force XInput when they were being switched to desktop emulation.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: Upon further debugging I have determined the issue is only related to the ability to configure the PS3 controller and when doing so all PS3 controllers will pick up the same config and be considered one controller.

Man that's really strange. I have a very weird issue with my PS3 controllers as well as of this evening with Steam Link. The only caveat is I'm running emulators also.

When I set up a single 'generic' PS3 controller to my account, everything works fine. I can configure controls to my liking and save that config for any games. The issues happens when I try to connect a second controller. The same exact symptoms as you describe occur. I have 4 controllers and tried all of them as the 2nd controller and nothing changes. Steam link interface is completely unusable unless there is only the single connected controller. The controller skips selections in the interface (i.e. when using the joystick or d-pad).

My current workaround is to just remove all configurable controllers and use them as default controller after pairing not linking it to my account.

Would really like to avoid paying for PS4 controllers or VirtualHere but I'm not sure what to do at this point. Hope this sheds some more light on this.
My question is would VirtualHere or PS4 controllers resolve this?

Apologies for the lack of any solution, I haven't found much of anything as to why this is happening.

Hello there, it does also happen with two ore more Xbox 360 gamepads: http://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/0/133256959380546071/

The issue only occurs with the Steam Big Picture Mode interface (mulitple hits, second/third/fourth gamepad does not do anything).

While gaming or navigating through the Steam library (desktop streaming) all gamepads work independently (2-4 player gaming is possible).

Hmmm, I never thought that the controllers may be working in a game. I just gave it a go and sure enough, if I use a mouse and keyboard or a different type of connected controller (in my case an XBox360 wired controller) to navigate the menus and launch a game then the two controllers are actually recognized as individual controllers and work just fine. Same issue though if I go back to the steam interface I get the skipped menu items bug again. So it appears that steam and steam ONLY recognizes the two controllers as a single controller. Very odd.

I also tried turning off the ability to configure the controllers and this issue went away. Both controllers were able to properly interact with the steam interface as well as register as two separate controllers in the games. However, this doesn't solve my edge case in that launching the game I want, the controller defaults to keyboard and mouse emulation instead of gamepad mode.

So it appears like this is an issue with both PS3 controllers picking up the same configuration and not being able to tell the two apart. I have attempted to change the names of the two different controllers configs to no avail. They just keep taking the same one.

I fear there may not be a solution for this, however, I genuinely feel that not being able to configure multiple PS3 (or Generic) controllers individually is still an issue that should be looked into. I have changed the title of the original post to more accurately represent the issue at hand.

FYI, seems like there's quite a few threads popping up on this now.

Hopefully getting to be enough to warrant investigation.

Yes, I have encountered the same problem a week or so ago - tried 3x Logitech F310 controllers and Steam link registered input from 2 different controllers as input from one controller (2 controllers could control the same character in Ultimate Chicken Horse). All 3 controllers were set to "DInput" (F310 has Xinput/Dinput switch). I haven't tried PS3 controllers yet (have 3 of them too), will try them and report. Also, running v600 beta firmware.

¿Is there any solution for this issue?

Thx
