Xbox Controller Behaving Like Mouse in Non Steam Game
I'm trying to play some uplay games that I've added to stream myself. Problem is steam thinks they are keyboard/mouse only and as a result my xbox 360 controller connected to the link is treated like a mouse. This wasn't always the case so something has changed.

How do I get the controller to always be treated as a controller?

You don't need any 3rd party software. Steam already has a built in controller config utility.

is the controller wired oder wireless?
in last case, try to turn on virtual here for your xbox 360 wireless adapter.
you can find it in the steam link controlls, before you join your host PC.
this works for me when i play fifa 17, but this leads to an side effect.
the controller doenst act as mouse on desktop anymore.

Got it working by selecting the gamepad config for the Xbox 360 controller in desktop mode in the steam settings.
