Wake on LAN stop working
I've recently got the steam link over a week ago. Everything works perfectly fine. Wake on LAN was amazing, then suddenly 2 days ago it stopped working. No matter what I do I can not get the WOL feature to turn on my PC from the Steam Link. I've tried everything I can find including changing drivers, bios, and turrning off windows fast boot but still can't turn on my PC using WOL with the steam link. :steamsad:

I was going to name fast boot, which reactivates itself after you install Windows 10 Anniversary Update.. but if you already checked that (and all the other things you mentioned), then things get quite puzzling.

We can maybe start by checking if the problem is in your PC, or rather in the Steam Link (or their connection): if you have an android smartphone, you can install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.mrwebb.wakeonlan

Connect it to the wifi and try to wake your PC with this. Remember to make sure you PC is actually turned off, and not suspended/hibernated or something similar.

did you disable the sleep mode and enable the WOL in the bios of your HOST PC

@Malvoc I've tried the app but it didn't detect anything in my network
@MoA I can't seem to find any sleep mode in BIOS. I did make sure that WOL (ErP is what it's called on mine) is on. I have a Gigabyte z97 HD3 motherboard.

Didnt detect anything? That's really strange.. maybe try another, just to be sure, but if that's so, I would start thinking the problem may be that the wake on lan packet just doesn't reach your PC.. is there some firewall on your PC, or is your router set up to filter some traffic for whatever reason? One thing is not being able to wake up your PC, but not seeing it at all in that app (while it's turned on, of course) is really odd.

i don't think it's set up to filter out anything. THe whole thing work just fine when i first set it up.

After messing around with the bios i found the solution. After enabling a feature call "network stack" Wake on Lan works again.

Wake On Lan has stopped working for me sometime in the past few weeks. I believe it was due to the Windows 10 upgrade but I have followed every step/suggestion (including updating drivers) and still cannot get this to work from my Steam Link.

However, if I use a small WOL perl script (https://github.com/jpoliv/wakeonlan) from my laptop, I can get the host PC to wake up.

For that reason, this MUST be an issue with the steam link.

PS: It worked fine up until a few weeks ago. Used it muliple times per week in the past.
