The "true" ending was fine to me, but the one part that really rustled my gears is when Elise forgave Frederic after he healed her. Like, hello???? The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cut off Franz' HANDS, you can't just forgive him like that! "Maybe he's not such a bad guy..." After he ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cut off your friends' hands and got 0 punishment for 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years and walks around beating the ♥♥♥♥ out of poor people for fun. Yeah, such a good guy.
Also, why the ♥♥♥♥ didn't Elise and Aretha search for Franz? I don't recall them mentioning looking for him anywhere, and his parents never even show up to look for him. I feel like there needed to be more time spent on explaining how Franz deliberately evaded being found, otherwise it makes no sense that he could stay hidden for so long when his friends shouldve put together a search party.
How Franz ended up, I suspect it wouldn't have been hard to find him. It still boggles me, years later.
THANK YOU about your opinion about Frederic the ♥♥♥♥ (because every time I post something with an opinion someone for some reason always LOVES to troll and say 'you're not seeing it right) Seriously... even his sprite/paperdoll was an indicator of what a childish useless arse he was. Let me list it off:
- HE starts the fight, BEGS for it actually, and when Franz simply tells him to yield because it's over at the end, F**head Fred decides he's going to CHOP HIS HANDS OFF... how in the world was that ruled as "self-defense"??? Franz even says in the beginning "it's just a sparring match" meaning, he let Fred know AHEAD of time that he had no intention of permanently harming him or killing him.
- He never ONCE shows any sort of remorse or character improvement throughout ANY of the routes, continuing to be a snotty, arrogant "it's never my fault" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The only time he shows any sort of "niceness" is due to ONE chick because he wants to get in her pants ("service me". Seriously. How many slaps and harassment suits would that get anyone these days if you just came out and said that to someone you'd met for 5 minutes??) - so it's not even real niceness... c'mon. Even HITLER had a dog he loved.
- it's extra shown because in the "adult" sprites, you see marked changes in all the (previous) teenagers appearances... except Fred. I think that was specifically to show he'd had pretty much zero character development, ie: he never 'grew up'
I found Elise to be annoyingly naive and Pollyanna-ish
- Seriously... you essentially "fall" for a guy who not only managed to attempt to sexually assault you (I seriously think if she hadn't run out of the house, he would have tried to force something on her), but also DISMEMBERED one of your friends for the sole reason that he's a sore loser. You already know his sole interest is f**ing you... which is why he healed your sorry ass... but now it's all "Oh... he's a pretty good guy... I must have him all wrong!" - Uhh... no... I'm pretty sure Jeffrey Dahmer and Charles Manson had soft spots for certain people too... doesn't make it "all okay"
Aretha, actually all the Blytons - they are so... two dimensionally shallow. "I'm a bright scientist!! LIke... OMG... but I'm SUCH a cool girl 'cuz I can tease my GUY best friend! Like... OMG!!"
I feel horrible for Franz. He was a bright, earnest young man... who got SERIOUSLY robbed... I mean.. not just his hands... but the fact that NONE of the people who claimed to care for him sought him out... or extended a hand (no pun intended, that would be in really poor taste) and just essentially "out of sight out of mind" ed him until he shows up out of nowhere.
I appreciate the scienc-ey aspects... and the diagrams give me fond memories of University classes and lectures (yes, I was a science geek and I loved every freakin' moment) but guh... seriously.
Franz deserved better than that, you monsters
did'nt he survive ? at last ending, Elise trying to cast some healing spell on him, yes he already dead and her healing magic can't revive the dead but it seems a miracle happened and he survived ? the ending where the 4 kids running onto the piano and playing it is a sign that the piano is fixed.
It means Frank promise to repair it and Elise spell worked , so he then fix the piano as he promised to Elise.
If not why they bother to show the piano at the ending ?
It's been a long time since I've played this, but from what I remember before he died, he used his magic to fix the piano. He definitely died, though.
