Save game weirdness

Ok, played for a few hours yesterday.

When I called it a night I hit quick save, and exited the game.

Today I boot up, all I have in my save games is:

My named main save from 4/3, as it should be..

And "auto2" from 4/4, and says it is from and old version and can't be loaded?

Then there's "Auto save" which is still the old one from 4/3.. Somehow my quick save did not save.. and my auto save is the wrong version?

Or is my Quick save the wrong version, and it never actually autosaved all night?

Saves from 4/3 both work fine.. other then being from 4/3.. ;) Checked the archive in my save, and I do have a nugget in there.. so autosave should have been working yesterday

Aw well.. will have to re-play yesterday :)

Edit: Playing my save from 4/3. I hit Quick save (F7) and it replace "auto2" with "Auto Save". Now have 2 files named "Auto Save" 1 from today, and 1 from 4/3.

Auto save doesn't appear to be firing, so changed it to 15 mins.

Nothing after 15 mins, so fired my archivist, and replaced him.

Autosave saved, and replaced the "Auto Save" from 4/3 with another "Auto Save" from today.

Seems everything is working now..

New day - Found my saves from yesterday. Main save, and Auto save were fine. The Quick save had turned into "auto2" again, and says is is from the wrong version,

My game is still on experimental branch.. not sure that should be an issue, but changed to main branch to see if that changes anything

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure what was going on here, but glad you got it sorted?

Not sure but guessing something got corrupted when the main patch went live, and was messing with my save files.

Working fine since I changed branches. (There was a tiny download when I switched to main.. so something was off.. :) )

Auto save didnt work for me previous patches either. They dissapear after a day or so. Also, you have to first make a save with another name, after that autosave works again but still disappears from the file folder after a while.

I also had this today that i couldnt load some saved files from this patch because it seemed "old" saves but sorting by date it showed as if it was my last save. Loading my real last save did work.

But now i restarted my game because i was laggy and i can't get my saved files to get pass the loading screen :'( .. Waiting forever

I have send my file and log to sasha. There is some error. And the only saved files that still work are below saved files that are noted as "old" game files that don't work which are saved after my still working files according to universim. The saved files from the same game i was in reality playing today are split with those old non-working saves in between them, the working saves from today below and those not working from today above.. I hope sasha can figure out the issue :'( its a whole lot of time playing i lost

Yep, sounds like what I had going on. Changing branches forced a tiny download that seems to have fixed it for me.. at least it hasn't happened again yet.

Though the saves that turned into "old version" saves were lost. Still have that "auto2" save in the Dropbox link if it helps . Log is long gone from my tinkering :)

My autosave was also above the nonfunctioning saves :( i have to go back hours and i'm scared it will happen again. I deleted the "old" files but they keep coming back even if i throw theb away from my files itself and in game :P

Ok.. Worked for awhile, now my Quicksave from yesterday (4/10) disappeared, and the autosave says it's from the 8th.. Not getting the weird Old version thing though at least ;).. and of course, my last manual save was the 9th.. Ah well. Get a head start on those farms I was already in the middle of building last night now :D

On main branch so no log file.. Though what is the name of the log file? Have a weirdly name LOC file from the 7th.. might be my last log file before I changed branches.. might help :)

i removed all those nonworking files by deleting them many times and untill now no such weird saved games which are said to be old game files appear, yet. saved auto files always dissapear for me after some time since last patches. You need make normal saves manually.

Yeah, realizing that now. Thought I was good, and relied on the quicksave.. oops :D

Watched my saves in game last night. In game the quicksave and autosave were displaying correctly (In the correct order and 4/11).

When I exited the game and restarted, they were further down the list and we're showing 4/7 and 4/8.

Haven't tried loading them yet.. but maybe they really are the right saves, but somehow the identification info isn't saving?

You can try... just dont autosave for now on. Load it and save it with a name.

Sasha found my issue of not loading my saves. Something with me destroying an exile village or an exile village was according to the file build inside my village :P

Checked out the saves, they really are from 5 days ago :)

Too late now, but tomorrow I'm gonna try saving in game, and loading from inside the game without exiting, since they display correctly in the archive window..
