They kind of screwed the players over by putting the richest iron deposits dead center top of Mountains which you can't build anything at the top of Mountains.
True, but the iron mine has a reasonably wide radius. It’s not ideal though. They probably need to either increase this or allow us to build higher up.
It shouldn't be scarce at all, it's just your city might not be near the planets deposit so you have to look further out. You can check one of the bottom right buttons to see how much iron your planet has in total.
When you click Iron Mine in the build menu it highlights all iron deposits, just look around.
I think the lowest I've had is like 30k.
And the Celestial Alchemixer is invaluable. There's a hidden layer of resources on some planets (you can see them on the resource panel.)
And I don't think either of them are really explained in the game. The narrator mostly sticks to the yuck yuck jokes.
