The Universim Frequently Asked Questions [V54]
FAQ = Frequently Asked Questions.

Unfortunately, there's no official wiki that is current. So I am keeping this FAQ as up to date as I can to help you all.

Updates FAQ:
Q: Does the game still get updates? Is it Abandoned?
A: Yes to updates. No to being abandoned. We update the game every 4 to 8 weeks.

Adjusting the UI and fonts
Q: How to I adjust the size of the UI and fonts?
A: Press ESC, Click Settings, Click game, then drag the UI Scale slider.

How to use God Powers
Q: How do I use a God Power?
A: Pick the Power, and then hold down the Left Control Key and click the Left Mouse Button.

Save & Log files
Q: How do I open my save game and log folders?
A:
To access save files: Go to the screen where you load a game, click the check mark on the save file, then click export. This will open up a window with a zip file. You can send that zip file to support.

To access logs:Follow instructions above then go up one 2 folder levels. The player and player-prev are your log files.

Robox (builder bot) FAQ:
Q: How do builder bots work?
A: (see below... credit to etermes for making the tutorial)

You create a Robox this way:

and then in construction menu to the left, where ages are displayed you increase this number, top of the ages:

and clicking there you can select now from different buildings:

and the Robox will move there and auto build, notice the arc, that line connecting Robox with new deployed building:

For colonization rocket you can include only one Robox.

Root of the Problem FAQ:
Q: How do I kill the vine?
A: Strike it with lightning, let it go underground, then repeat this process 5 more times. Fire will also work, but you risk that spreading through your city.

Q: What is this vine for? And what is the hole for?
A: After killing the vine, follow the quest.

DP FAQ:
Q: How do I earn DP?
A: Expeditions, Quests, and from some buildings. Also note you only get 0.5 for the FIRST school and FIRST movie theater. Any additional buildings do not generate DP.

Well / Reservoir FAQ:
Q. Where did the wells go? Mine are gone.
A. They were combined with reservoirs. Build a reservoir, and nuggets will drink from it.

Q. My nuggets are constantly getting sick/diseased and drinking from lakes/oceans. What can I do?

A. You need to build more reservoirs. You will also want more in high-traffic areas. So even if you have many reservoirs, you could be missing some in an area the nuggets require one.

Also, make sure the "well" section of the reservoir has lots of blue slots. Too many red slots = the well section is getting overloaded. Too many black slots = the well is getting overloaded and empty. In either of the 2 cases, you need to build more reservoirs in your city or in this area.

The following refill a nugget's water needs:
Lake = 50% and can make a nugget sick
Reservoir = 70%
Eatery = 100%

Eatery water refills slow. However, it makes it so a nugget needs to drink less often. If you make more of them, you won't need as many reservoirs.

Food FAQ
Q. How much food should I have?
A. Raw food should equal at least your total population. Raw (the number with the apple symbol in the lower left corner of the screen) +cooked food (the number to the right of raw food) should total 1-2 times your population. 1X is the absolute minimum you should allow your food to get. Once it gets under 1X, the lower it gets, the more and more nuggets will ignore their jobs and forage for food from bushes,

Cooked food fills a Nugget's food meter to 100%. Raw food only fills it to 70%. The same is for drinks vs well/reservoir water.

Q. How can I quickly get food?
A. For 5 CP, you can drop any animal on the city. Whales = 60, Mammoths = 30, Medium = 20, Small = 10. Don't buy food at the black market unless you absolutely have no other way to get it. You can use this while you add more food buildings to your city.

Town Hall FAQ

Q. What does the percent in the town hall mean?

A. As of v49, the old town hall system has been updated from the confusing numbers to just a percent. The percent is how much percent of your TOTAL population will be assigned to jobs. The game defaults to 75%, and the game will never let the number go over 90%. This makes sure that 10% of your population is always devoted to labor, delivery, and construction. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you keep this number around 75-85%.


More info: If you set this number too low, example 50%, then 50% of your population will be devoted to labor, and this could cause many buildings to not have workers. If you set this number too high, you will have many workers in your buildings, but you may lack a labor force that can properly delivery materials and items and construct/upgrade your buildings. Find a balance that works well with your play style and city :)


Building Construction FAQ:

Q. Why are my buildings / houses taking so long to build? Why are things taking so long to be delivered?

A. This can happen due to many factors.

1. Laborers. This is the main cause for things not being built (or taking a very long time). Make sure you have 15-25% of your total population that are laborers.. Experiment to find out what numbers work best for your city. See the Town Hall FAQ for help in this area
2. Resources. Make sure you have plenty of resources needed for your construction
3. Low raw food. If this gets too low, nuggets go forage for food. Try to keep at least a 2:1 ratio of raw food + cooked food to population
4. Once you can make couriers, make them! They carry 3 times as many materials, and they are needed to properly move advanced resources. You want 1-2 buildings per 200 nuggets. Experiment to see what works best for you. Couriers can only deliver resources. They can not construct buildings


Black Market FAQ
Q. Where are the items I bought?
A. The items you bought get put in your warehouses or on the ground of you don't have space, or if you don't have warehouses. Remember, you are buying the RESOURCES on the card in the black market - not the card itself.

Q. My planet is filling with many black markets!! What can I do?
A. Stop using the instant build function in the trainer or cheat program as that breaks the black market and makes it spawn infinite copies.

Ministers FAQ
(Work in Progress)

Q. Which buildings does each Minister Place?
A.
Water = Pumps & Reservoirs
Agriculture = Fish, Farms, and Garrisons
Defense = Defense towers
Electricity = power buildings (but not batteries)
Architecture = Engineer Huts
Entertainment = Places Movie theaters
Environment & Space = Not implemented

Q. What are their limitations and quirks?
A. At the moment, they are not a substitute for playing the game and placing buildings. They usually only do the BARE minimum needed. We will review this as time goes on and balance them accordingly. (Personally, I'd like them to do more to help reduce game micromanagement).

Q. What is the criteria that each minister uses to place buildings?
A. TBA

Engineer FAQ
Q. My engineers aren't repairing anything. What should I do?
A. You may have placed too many buildings for that engineer hut to repair and may need another one in that area. Make sure, that when you click an engineer building, that all your buildings are in the green areas. Engineers will only repair buildings in their green area.

Hospitals FAQ:
Q. My hospitals aren't working. What do I do?

A. You should always have one farm dedicated to herbs. Without herbs, hospitals will not function properly.

Infected Ground / Dead Bodies FAQ:
Q. I'm constantly getting infected ground. What do I do?

A: If you have enough Cemeteries, you will rarely get them. Make sure you have coverage everywhere you build and where nuggets go. When you go to place one, look at the green coverage area and make sure all your buildings are in it.

When you get an infection alert, click on the words "Infected Zone" in the news alert to fly right to it (if you miss it, you can find it in the news archive). Pause the game if you have to. Fly to the infection, pick up the nugget, and drop it in a cemetery. The infection will auto clear. However, if there are lots of nuggets around it, you can also heal the ground, heal the sick nuggets around it, then take the body to a cemetery
You can now area of effect heal large areas to help heal infected zones. Click and drag the heal power to do this.


Couriers FAQ:

Q. What are Couriers? What to they do? How do they benefit me?

A. Couriers help deliver resources quickly and efficiently. Normally a nugget can only carry 1-7 resources (depending on research). Couriers can carry up to 27! That's almost 4 times more. They also move faster. Currently, there can only be 4 couriers per Courier Hut. Many players often build 5-10 of these. These really help deliver resources to and from warehouses and to construction sites!

Happiness & Crime FAQ:

When you pick a building, on the toolbar, each buildings has crime and happiness stats. This is how you manage happiness and crime in your city.

The happy face = happiness
The angry face = crime

green = lowers crime or increases happiness
red = increases crime or decreases happiness

1 green = slightly improves that stat
2 green = moderately improves that stat
3 green = heavily improves that stat

All grey = no effect

1 red = slightly harms that stat
2 red = moderately harms that stat
3 red = heavily harms that stat


Finding Exile Cities:
Q. I've looked all over and can't find the exile cities! Is there an easier way?
A. Yes. You can use the planet filters. Click the eye icon in the upper right corner of the game. Then choose to display exiles. This will highlight all exile buildings making them easier to see.

Oxygen / Environment FAQ:

Q. My nuggets are getting sick from low oxygen. What can I do?

A. You can build more parks, create trees, or use the oxygen generator. Start with trees until you can build parks. Then use parks until you can make oxygen generators (not available yet). Parks have had oxygen generation increased in v40 to help combat oxygen issues.


Defense Tower FAQ:

Q. Why aren't they working? They aren't stopping wolves, exiles, or UFOs.

A. There are many reasons. Here are some answers and tips:

1. Make sure you have enough to cover the perimeter of your city
2. Make sure you have some inside the city perimeter to catch things that slip through your perimeter defenses
3. Nuggets need to eat, drink, sleep, rest, and make babies. So they aren't always at the defense towers. The towers won't work if there are no nuggets there. As you progress, you can employ more nuggets at the towers
4. Wolves. Sometimes wolves "stack" on top of each other during a wolf attack or attack in a pack. The defense towers can only throw spears, or shoot, every so often. This is why you want towers scattered throughout your city.
5. UFOs can be automatically shot down once your towers have been upgraded to a SAM and you have defense Satellites


Bridge FAQ:

Q: How will bridges work?

A: You start them on one the edge of a lake/ocean and drag them to the other side. They take resources, like any other buildings, to construct. Nuggets and animals will then use them to cross to the other side.

Q: Can bridges be upgraded?

A: Absolutely! You can research bridge upgrades in the research screen

Q: Help! I upgraded my bridge(s), and all of the nuggets on them died! What happened?

A: This is working as intended. You must turn off the bridge, let the nuggets stop using it, then upgrade it.

Q: How many bridges can I have?

A: As many as you like/can afford in the game.


Tesla's Quest and Battery FAQ

Q. Why can't I complete Tesla's quest? I don't have the materials to make the battery!

A1. Completing his quest doesn't use any materials to make the battery. You find 3 items, then zap it with lightning.. and poof.. it's complete. No materials. No Nuggets to build it.

A2. Batteries do not need concrete. When you can start making batteries, you should have all the materials that you need to make them. You should have just built your first glass factory. That factory should make the glass that you need for batteries

Quest FAQ
Q: Is there a list of quests in the game?
A: There is now :) This list gives some of the simple triggers to start a quest. It's not all the conditions to start one, but it's the most important one. This will not tell you how to complete them. You will need to ask your fellow players if you can't figure a quest out.

The Book of Love (triggers when first house is complete)
Name the New Born Nuggets (automatic when first children are born)
Backbreaking Work (triggers when houses are under construction)
Heal a Nugget (automatic)
Dead Nugget (automatic)
Find My Lost Nugget (automatic)
Broken Heart (break up a couple using cupidon - can take several breakups to trigger)[/b]
Food Discovery (research and place a farm)
Tesla's Quandary (research electricity)
Gone Green (triggers when environment under 80%)
Put Out the House Fire (research material refinement)
Lake Cleansing (make a lake toxic by throwing nuggets or animals into it or from pollution)
The Last Exhibitionist (research clothing)
The Nuggets' Fierce Enemy (researching lumber mill)
Overpacked (research couriers)
Sitting On Powder (research gunpowder)
Root of the Problem(triggers 15 mins after researching Mining)

Events FAQ
Note: Events are not quests and do not count towards any achievements or unlocks.

Friend or Foe (Stone Age, 4 nuggets, exiles present, build 1 defense tower... triggers 33 to 60 minutes once all conditions are met)

Pursued By Bear (Stone Age, 1 Hunter's Hut, Hunters must have hunted 3 animals... triggers in 5 minutes to 20 minutes once all conditions are met)

Hi , whats the point for building warehouses? is only to stop seeing resources dropped over all the map or if certain time pass they dissapear if they are not storage on a warehouses? Also why we have the option to choose what thing can be storage on them but if we upgrade the warehouses on each era they reset. As an expample Turning my food only warehouse on a multiple itmes again.
Another question is the amount of things can be storage on the stoneage are limited on 100 each warehouse but if i have 110 resources where are the 10+ on the floor? and again do i lose it at some point if is not moved to a werehouse? Does natural disaster like the tornado and fire destroy resources that arent storage? so warehouses protect them? when we saw a nugget stealing resources as crime triggering , do they stolen from the ones that are drooped on the ground or the warehouses ? or the resources at the werehouses are secured from thiefs?

Without warehouses, nuggets can't pull things out of various buildings.

They should retain your settings after an upgrade, if they aren't, that's a bug.

Yeah, things will disappear over time if not in a warehouse.

No resources, on the ground can't be destroyed.

They can steal from anyplace - ground or warehouse

Another blatant example of how greatly managed this development is.

This game is still basically in Alpha Testing. So many things aren't going to properly work.

Yes there is a toggle in the research menu. Just have to slide it over

1) It's 2 versions out of date

The FAQ has now been updated to include changes to the game in versions v47 to 49

Changes:

Added finding exiles
Added Root of the Problem quest
Edited the Town Hall FAQ
Changed the order of the sections in the FAQ
Expanded Black Market FAQ
Edited Engineer FAQ to better explain the area of effect
Edited Infected Ground / Dead Bodies FAQ to better explain cemetery area of effect
