You use it to get more mating if you need more workers or you notice a population decline. This happens usually when you get to about 75 Nuggets. You can also use it to pair Nuggets as soon as they reach adulthood seeing as they can sometimes take years in-game to find a partner and start having babies. It's a good way of getting them to believe in you too. They also like it and I think it's classed as a good Creator Power and can be used to increase the love meter? Which will get you a faster Creator Point regeneration. But Im not sure on that last point.

Up to you whether you use it though.

It is. Notice those traits each of your nuggets possesses? Those can be spread or contained by pairing a male and female with the same trait or pairing same sex nuggets with the same trait, respectively. The nuggets will not mate according to your civilizations needs, you must guide their reproduction carefully or you will be overrun by the lazy or gourmand.

* Lazy nuggets work less, gourmands require 50% more food than any other nugget.

The hermits are the intended method of slowing the spread of undesirable traits, but it is much more efficient to mate same sex couples of undesirable traits, they mate for life but have no offspring to spread the undesirable trait. Thus they can life their lifes in peace but not cause social calamities in the future.

My first play through had mostly lazy nuggets and it was nearly impossible to get anything built.

Correction: Hermits just take longer to find a mate naturally. I originally thought they were distinctly less likely to have children.

Cupid power is useless after the first 10 minutes of the game. If you want to deal with bad traits quickly and effectively and gain extra CP points. Open your list of nuggets, sort by traits, find the bad traits nuggets and start dropping them in the temple grinder.

you can make gay nuggets with this god power, i once destroyed my nug civilization before it started because i found an extra nug in a box and it was a male and when i used the cupidon power attempting to pair up adahi and elu i ended up pairing the 2 guys by mistake, the female died due to an accident and my remaining nugs were these 2 guys...no kids, no future

Cupidon is useful for promoting traits you want. For that pair up Nugs with the same trait, which gives the lowest chance for that trait not to be present in their offspring. If you don't use cupidon it's very likely that certain starter traits will simply vanish over the ages, which in most cases can be undone via the cloning center. Thief for example cannot be created, so if you want thiefs in the modern and space age you have to cupidon thief couples.

The reason is, as far as I understand, simply propability. Not enough thiefs and too many neutrals means that over time the pop will weigh towards neutral.

The most important thing for pop growth is available housing, followed by mobility and lifespan, but there seems to be a hard limit of how high you can get. Two years ago I could make a pop of 6k+ (maybe more I can't remember the thread is buried somewhere) with immortal nuggets and sacrificing any Nug that doesn't have that trait. SO the immortals could only breed with immortals. Adahu and Elu were still around in the modern age, praying at the temple, hundreds of years old and with plenty of children.

This seems to have been changed recently, because now I have a pop of 1.1k and even introducing Matinators in bulk doesn't seem to raise the pop beyond that point. That's not bad because I have 400 unemployed and that's more than enough, but those times of population overload seem to be gone.

I’ve been playing this game for a long time and never thought to pair bad traits to same sex. Thanks.
