When I play, the only time I have infected is from hunters or gatherers that wander outside of my city
If you do get an infected alert, immediately click the news link to warp to it and pick up the body. Picking up the body cures the infected zone. Then drop the body in the nearest cemetery. You could drop it in a lake, but then you risk it going toxic.

If that keeps happening, DM me on the Universim discord. I'm Dave there too. You can send me your save file, and I can see if you have a bug or some other issue
Hi Dave,
Thank you so much for your response but I have to say that I agree with gghf except for the part about most of the infections happening outside of town because a lot of mine are in and around town, especially outside of the stone and wood refineries.
I have four cemeteries and the whole town is covered but still I have sick and old nuggets dying and being left where they drop thus causing infection zones. I also have two hospitals and now don't ever have water issues. And quite often, the cemeteries refuse to take bodies despite not being full (burning bodies on or off) and I must have lazy cemetery workers cos quite often they appear to be doing nothing.
Any thoughts would be great. Cheers!
Side note: is there a way to have less workers in things like Stone works? It's like I either have tons of stone, or tons of bricks, but can't balance it out.
