No really even without doing the house trick thing, you should spot him easily.
Maybe it's not a 100% foolproof way of finding the nugg, because prior to steam release I found one just wandering around in a forest with no wolves but perhaps they changed it in their big steam release update.
It may well be on the otherside of the planet for all I know or care at this point.
To make matters even worse, the ignore quest or I'm on it buttons are not clickable in my game. So I guess it sits there in turpitude.

EDIT: apparently the trick now is to follow the howling? Not super accessible for folks who can't hear or don't play with the sound on.
