Lack of wood, even with Lumber Mill
I don't recall exactly, but did the lumber mill used to replant trees in an area around it? On my new patch playthrough I've deforested half the planet and I'm still starving for wood, what's worse, the lumber mill just stops working when there are no trees in a certain radius. Wouldn't it make more sense for the mills to either have a plant/cull toggle? Have one mill growing trees and another cutting theirs down in different parts of the world? Right now you just need to build a new lumber mill every time you deforest a small area.

Anyone? Has anyone found a sustainable way to keep trees around?

Playing for the first time and wondering exactly that - didn't find any way for reforestation.

This is a balance problem. There's far less trees vs stone in the world...and neither trees nor stone regenerate

Wait there is no reforestation? Which developer had that brolliant idea? My nuggets have to walk half the planet to get wood? Okay that is a stupid rookie mistake in balance that never should have gone through

I came here wondering the same thing (how to re-grow trees).

The knowledge that you can't immediately culls my desire to play the game at all. I get 'finite resources' but trees aren't rocks. They do tend to grow by themselves, even uncultivated. Hopefully respawn will be in the next update.

For sure, it wouldn't even be so bad if lumber mill workers would walk as far as needed to get to the trees. But the radius of effective work is miniscule. It takes something like 15 trees to build one and they might cut down 50-60 total before they decide trees are too far away.

The lumbersmills are bugged.. after a while, the workers wont chop trees. You have to demolish them and rebuild them :(
For the lumbermill bug, save and reload. That fixes it
