I had to rebind some of the keyboard/mouse keys because they are a bit odd.
Split Screen is actually very well done and organic.
I find it's better with a controller, as it suits the more relaxed style of the lego games. Although the price of my controller plus the cost of the pc game is only actually a few more pounds than the playstation 4 version, so can play the other games as well in exactly the same way on my pc for a fraction of the cost!
Although if you really want to know how the gameplay is with a keyboard then you could always download a demo of one of the other games in the series, as in terms of controls they've never really changed (eg. http://videogames.lego.com/en-gb/lego-batman-3/demo-download)
