I don't know whats these red/white arrows mean/do. Is there a particular character I need or something?

Yeah, there some characters with abilities to fly over abyss with parachute. Don't mind if you don't have them yet - You'll open them by the storyline

The characters capable of gliding across these gaps are:

• Billy Brennan (JP3 Level 2)
  
• Ben Hildebrand (JP3 hub)
  
• Enrique Casado (JP3 Level 5)
  
• Simon Masrani (JW hub, Aviary, need Pteradon amber from JP3 Level 4)
  
• Pilot Pat (JW Level 5)

Your best bet is to play through to at least the third level of Jurassic Park 3, since that's the shortest time to unlock a glide capable character. If you've played through the requisite level you can purchase the character in the character screen in free play (which means you need to have completed a movie to free play there).
