Stuck on Mobile Lab level...

Please help! I can't get past this level - I think there is a bug here. I need a spade to dig, but my character (can't remember his name) doesn't have one. The guy hanging from the rope has the spade, but he can't climb down...

What's going on!?!?

You don't need the spade, in fact you can only dig those piles up in freeplay.

Try climbing first

...if you need more....

Get your character on the rope to climb up avoiding the falling debris, at a certain point this lifts the vehicle and you have to swap character, he then retrieves a part for the winch to continue.

thanks for the reply. i was convinced it was a glitch, especially when i got a hit with the same problem on google. i haven't read the spoiler, so i'm going to have another look at it tomorrow.

Problem still, the hitbox is just too big. Swinging and climbing up don't work, as no matter what you keep getting hit. Never had this problem on PS4.

I would suggest using keyboard here. After that it was "easier".

I realise this is an old post but maybe it will help someone out.
I was never able to make Malcom swing to grab onto the side of the mobile lab like you're supposed to .

What I did to beat the hitbox issue in single player is cheese the swap character mechanic.
A moment or two before you're about to be hit by debris swap to Eddie (the character by the car). The debris will pass harmlessly by Malcom (the guy on the rope). Then swap back and keep climbing.
Keep doing this until you have to use just Eddie then soon you're up the rope.

Should work with keyboard too.
