Freeplay not working
So when i am in freeroam i can't seem to change characters like in freeplay. Is this normal?

You don't get a selected few. You have to hold down the ring menu button to get the selection screen. (I hope this is what you mean)

I know, but there dosen't appear to be character selection option in this menu.

At the bottom of the ring? Brings you to a screen full of faces?

Is this while you are doing the story? You are locked into certain characters in between missions when you are doing story mode, once you have completed the story (all missions for that movie) then you should get the option to choose any character.

So you have to complete story mode to get freeplay in the layout?
Because it never was like that in previous lego games.

First occurence was in LEGO Harry Potter, I think. Because of the larger hub worlds, they had to guide you to the next level. You won't be able to do much anyway, since you are missing lots of characters and their abilities. Just go on with the story.
