There is no problem when my son is playing with a keyboard for player 1. Then the actions buttons did not activate player 2. The most strangest thing is when changing to a Controller, the action buttons directly activates player 2.
1. Make sure the controller is powered on and recognized/connected to the computer BEFORE opening the game in any way. Also make sure you do not touch the mouse or keyboard in any way after clicking the play button.
2. If there is any other controller connected or remembered by your computer, delete it, so that the controller you're using is the only one your computer knows.
3. You could also try completely removing the controller from your computer, then connecting it again, which could hopefully reset some bugged setting.
4. Shift-tab then click on the Steam controller settings, there could be something helpful in that section.
The keyboard and mouse are the parent controller format, meaning as soon as you use either of them, then the control scheme will change to KB+M. It's really annoying, but it's an artifact of the Lego Engine Traveler's Tales have been using for years.
