Gold and Red Brick bug

I'm at 98.4% into the game, but this bug is driving me mad.
I'm missing 7 Gold bricks and 1 Red brick and I know all their locations.
Once I pick them up they get added to my total, but there's no animation showing my total has increased, also the total on the info card on the main map doesn't update.
Then, when I leave the area and load another chapter, the Gold and Red bricks I've just collectoed disappear from my total and I have to collect them again, with the same result as last time.

Try changing your Video/Effects to their lowest/off settings, switch off any Extras you have activated aswell, and try again. If you still can't get them it's probably a glitch that the only get-around will be to start a new savegame if you want to achieve 100%. I had the same in Lego H.P. 1-4 at 99% and had to restart.

Thanks for the tip, I turned all extras off and changed in-game settings.
That didn't work for me, but for some reason when I uninstalled and then reinstalled the game again, it did work.
So now I've got 100% and didn't have to restart thankfully.

Can confirm that lowering all the video and effects settings, plus turning off all extras made getting a red brick possible, where it was the exact same problems described in the original post. Thanks for the advice :)
