Missing some achievements, help appreciated
Hi guys, I'm holding off on getting Six Ages until I get all the achievements in KotDP. I love the game, I played it before the way you're supposed to (no spoilers, just enjoying things as I blunder along), but since I got it on steam I'm looking to round up the achievements.

I know how to get all the achievements in theory, I researched it and read the wiki, discussions and guides, so the basics are generaly clear to me, and if just following that was enough I wouldn't be asking. I'm asking because I hope someone might have very specific info or a workaround or something.

Here's what I'm missing:

-- Hard mode Long Game --
-- 10 Wins --

Those are simple enough, I don't need help with those. I'm mentioning them because I'm looking for ways to round the others up while grinding those. The question of what difficulty setting I should be playing on is really important, because I still have 5 wins to do, and I don't mind playing on hard, so if something that's needed for the other ones doesn't show up on normal, that'd be useful info.

-- Dwaf Apocalypse --

SOLVED, Thanks for all the help ^^

(Solution: Play on hard difficulty, buff your trickster up, send multiple exploration parties simultaneously to the Dwarf Valley. Reload until multiple parties find the mine shaft, then attempt multiple robberies in a row. I only got one, but my trickster survived two other attempts. One encounter with the traders later, a warning came, I took the delegation hostage and ransomed it, and that was that).

-- Making Peace With The Trolls --

SOLVED, Ty!

(Solution: Really, it seems to be just "make sure you start next to the clan "known for careful planning". Promise them to make peace with trolls as part of negotiations. They will eventually ask you to do it, even if you just keep going post end-game, as long as you're king. And if you win I think your king won't die of old age so just keep passing turns with minimal fuss until these guys ask. Then just go along and chose the "grovel and scrape" option).

-- War Triceratops --
-- Plow Triceratops --

SOLVED, Thanks for help! :)

(SOLUTION: Display the triceratops bones in your hall, hope you get a visit from a Magisaur, not sure what prevents it from happening in some games but it might be the Dragon Cart Find event. When the Magisaur shows up, let it come in and ask you what virtue you think is most important. Hospitality worked for me. Then you'll find eggs, chose to hatch them, it's pretty logical from that point on. Pick one option, reload, pick other option to get both achievements.)

Thank you for your help and for reading all this :) I really hope I can dig into Six Ages soon enough ^^

For the troll peace
-You don't need to have the trolls as your chosen enemies to make peace. I bet it'll even hamper you.
-I've had the event fire on hard, but I've only put the planning clan on my tribe once.
-I did the issaries the concillator heroquest twice after I agreed to make peace for the planning clan in the tribe making negotiations. That was perhaps excessive but it means that being friends with trolls doesn't keep you from getting the event.

For the triceratops event:
-I've gotten the dinosaur to visit me with a dragon hating clan that traded the bones away. I've also gotten it on a dragon loving clan that put it in a temple of ernalda, and another dragon loving clan that put it in a temple of orlanth. Two of these were on normal.
-I've gotten triceratops eggs on the answers 'defense' and 'hospitality'. I didn't get them with the third clan which answered 'Obedience'. The wiki says to answer him truthfully, and I only took my advisors' advice on the first two clans. So I guess you should pick an answer that one of your ring members gives you.
-Trying to tame the triceratopses for either purpose happens after you hatch and raise them.

I see you're not asking about the telmori achievement. Since you aparantly have the telmori apocalypse achievement, do you perhaps remember how many telmori events it took for them to wipe you out?

Thank you for your reply :)

The Telmori wiped me after only two events on Hard. I don't remember the first one, but in the second one I put a bounty on wolf pelts. There might have been one more when a tribe asked help with fighting the Telmori, but I'm not sure. It was very sudden, honestly, I was surprised how few it took.

As for the Magisaur - thanks a lot for all this. I just had a visit from her on a hard playthrough and alt-tabbed to see if I could find any info and saw your answer. All my clan ring members are telling me different things. My clan chief is saying "obedience", but I'll go with "hospitality" i guess. One other time the Magisaur showed up I went with what the clan chef was saying and it didn't work.

Hmm, I didn't think the wolf pelts would count since it wouldn't be my clan doing it. I currently have a hard clan that has two events under its belt but didn't get a warning yet, so I bet getting people to hunt wolves is pretty potent. I'll try going for the pelts next time I come across a telmori event, thanks for the tip!

The wiki says it's basically the biggest hit you can do with the Telmori, if I remember correctly. If it's true it makes perfect sense - you set the whole countryside on them!

Btw, Hospitality seems to have worked ^^ I finally found the eggs! And the achievements :)

However - I didn't get the dragon chariot event this time. So the way it seems right now is that the only times I had the Magisaur visit was when I didn't get both the bones and the chariot. They migh be unrelated and it might be a coincidence, but the events are so similar that I'd love to check the game code to see if they might be bugging each other out...

Huh, I did find the chariot on the game where I didn't get eggs. How weird.

And I only got visits from the dragonnewt mage when I didn't find the chariot.

Got the Dwarf Apocalypse. I buffed up a trickster somewhat at hard difficulty, lucked out with getting 3 mine shafts, stole the item once, failed twice (but got out alive), and traded with the rogue traders once. This did the trick.

Well, that's just troll peace, 10 wins (5 more) and Long Game Hard win to go ^^

Well, I got the telmori apocalypse. It's the strangest thing, I couldn't get the event to trigger in the years I had left for the clan, so I reloaded to the year where I got the second telmori event, and hoped I could trigger it again so I could put a bounty on wolf skins. But then the strangest thing happened, I didn't get the event, and I was basically skipping through the seasons with minimal care for my clan to try and get the event again. But instead of a telmori event, I eventually got a warning, letting me take hostages and get killed by the telmori.

This time I had taken one less opportunity to mess with the telmori, and for some reason it triggered on this one but not on the other. The only thing I can think of that might've triggered it is that I didn't bother to adjust my number of hunters to a manageable level. Maybe the telmori don't like it if you hunt too much? Your hunters would kill wolves and the things that the wolves eat.

Congrats! That your last one?

Ok, so I got the Troll Peacemaker... It really is just "get careful planning tribe in your clan, promise to make peace with trolls, wait untill they ask"... except they asked me someting like 20 years after I've already won. I kept rolling through an already won short game, just barely paying attention not to have everything break apart, and essentially passing turns just to see if the event ever fires. And it randomly did - might be because of something I did, might not - they asked, I went along with it, groveled to Cragspider, and that's that. I can't say if anything I did actually influenced it, I didn't do the Issaries quest (and I did it 3 times on the previous run where the peacemaker event didn't fire).

So, three more wins, including a long hard game win, and I'm off to Six Ages. :)

Nope, I've still got to do 10 victories, war triceratops, explorer, troll apocalypse, dragonewt apocalypse and collector. But telmori was the only really tricky one that was left.

Explorer was trickier than I thought it would be - good luck with the chase :)
