Isn't this game just a Distance and Audiosurf ripoff?
Why are so many people playing this????

Not everything that has similarities to something else is a ripoff.

"No" and "because it's fun". Also, what Pantheon said.

It's different from Audiosurf in that this is an actual driving game with cars and a physics engine. While Audiosurf also does the whole "generating a track based on your music" thing, I would say it would be better described as a puzzle or rhythm game as far as gameplay goes.

I haven't played Distance myself, but I think the gameplay is again quite different from Drive Any Track. I saw that Distance has flying and maybe other sorts of stunts that aren't in Drive Any Track.

If you had only seen like 10 seconds of gameplay footage of Audiosurf, Distance, and DAT, I could see where on the surface they look similar, but I'd guess most people who have played all three a decent amount would say they are quite different.

Personally I love driving games and I love music, so this game seemed like it was tailor-made for me. I'm really liking it so far.

So Distance is better than this game.

Two different games doing different things.

You could say that these are just worse versions of Mario Kart if you wanted to just because it has cars and stunts and one way tracks.

It looks like it but it plays a lot better than both of those. I spent over 100 hrs on AudioSurf over the years but I would take Drive Any Track over AudioSurf any day by now. It's so much fun.
As has been pointed out before, Distance, AudioSurf, and Drive Any Track are three completely different beasts.

Distance is, for lack of a better term, a spiritual successor to Nitronic Rush - a game which itself drew some very heavy inspiration from the old Rush series of arcade racers, hence the name. (On a related note, I'm pretty sure the Nitronic Rush team also made Distance.)

AudioSurf has more in common with games like BeatMania (and, to a lesser extent, Klax); true, it's got tracks generated based on the music you use, but its primary gameplay element is matching colored blocks.

Drive Any Track has similarities to both, but in the end it's its own separate beast... and I'd say it's a lot more challenging than either.
Distance is more of a survival racing game.

This is more of a stunt racer simply synced up to your music.

Just because it's similar to a style doesn't mean it's a blatant rip-off. If you want to see a blatant rip off, see any of David Cage's games.

They look similar but play very different. DAT > AudioSurf/2 imo. I played the AudioSurfs a few hours, they never really grabbed me, this has me hooked.

Haven't played Distance in a while, but this game seems to zero in on a feature I recall some of the players of Distance had been calling for...simply being able to drive more freely.
