Hi TheSelousScout,

it's not decided yet, we first want to fully concentrate on the Windows version.

Hi TheSelousScout,

even if this answer may not make you happy, but it is decided now and we will not make a SteamOS/Linus and Mac version, at least not at launch.

The reason for that is, that CM3 is made with the Faktum Engine, that is developed inhouse at FAKT Software. The guy behind this engine is a genius, but even than it is so much work to do just to make the Windows version as great as possible. So we don't want to bind his recource for porting that would take a lot time and effort, while we still need to make the Windows version better.

I'm really sorry to give the bad news, I went into business to make people laugh or at least to entertain them with our products, but this is also a part of the job.

Thanks for your understanding,
artenobilis

Thanks for your detailed answer.
I'm currently watching the Twitch Recording of the interview with GameStar and it looks awesome.
While I'm a fan of Crazy Machines since I've been a child, in these days games must give me a big reason to make me buy it for an operating system I don't really use anymore.
I hope the game gives me this reason because I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ want to support you. :steammocking:

But yes, as a developer I understand you cannot port it easily to other systems and afaik you're developing the Faktum Engine for decades and I'm pretty sure your genius engine developer will kill you, if you switch to a cross platform compatible engine like Unity.

Please stop using "Windows version" as a synonym for "PC version".
Linux is just another operating system for a PC which doesn't use DirectX. But seriously, it's a PC.

oh :(

that’s a pity, i busted my elbow and really looked forwards to a game i could play with one hand.

somehow i thought it would come to linux…

Really sad to see no GNU/Linux build is planned. Oh well.

Still congratulations for making your own engine, respect to the programmer behind it.
I just hope he'll keep cross-platform support in mind in the future! ;)

I hope you will consider bringing the game to Linux after it's polished on Windows.

+1, maybe one day we will be able to play it (natively) on Lunux.
I know it's not very likely, but i think it's just fair anyway to state my interest here ;-)

(I also really loved CM1 and CM2, when i was using Windows back in those old days where nobody knew what importance "freedom" had for software)

What a bummer no Linux version, totally looks like my kind of game. I wonder why anyone would make their own engine for a game like this? I can understand it for a AAA where you are trying to squeeze out performance or doing something graphically different that's not handled by the major game engines, but for this so much work already done by Unity, and you are building up dev skills that are more easily transferable to other projects. Just seems like a silly decision.

I am also disappointed by that answer. I mean you think that people who build game engines might have looked at other engines and even oldschool engines like Id Tech3 were already cross platform engines, so it clearly is no new trend to build OS abstraction layers into game engines...

But at least its a better reason than to use Unity/Unreal/etc. and just not release the game for other platforms :D
