Vikings: Dead permanantly?

If a viking dies in the level, is it removed forever from the pool of vikings I can summon? (on all maps).

IIRC they can be summoned on the next map again.

yes you can respawn him in the next level
if he dies he is only dead for this very level he died in, thus not gaining any honor

Is there a strat then of having as many guys in the military as possible since it seems the only guys who gain honor are the fighting ones? Or does making an offering give everyone honor or something (I have not tried this yet)

IIRC every viking on the map gets honor for every action that yields honor. (Fighting dwarfs works best... one get 50k+ honor on a single map.)
