What is new in 8th wonder?
I haven't played Cultures 2 or Northland, but they look like the same games to me. So aside from the Campaign and the wonders i guess, what is new in this game?

Nothing. Northland and 8th Wonder of the World are basically stand-alone expansions of Cultures 2. You get a new campaign and some new scenarios. In 8th WotW you get an option for automatic item distribution for your vikings, like shoes, mead, etc. to use. The wonders are not usable buildings, they are just a goal for the campaign.

Yeah, i have already played through the full campaign. Why did these need to be stand-alone? The campaign was quite short, especially if you dont ♥♥♥♥ around building settlements like i did (Most of the time, doing the quests is enough to win the missions). So i was wondering what is actually new in this game, that would warrant this being stand-alone. Not much, it turns out. The early 2000s were lawless.

I wouldn't be so harsh on it. Games were distributed via disks only; if you wanted new content, ANY new content - or if you felt you had more to contribute to the game world you created - then you had to ship a new game. I agree there could have been more to it than just a few QoL nicities, but I don't see it as a negative either (especially since my nostalgia factor makes me want to use these few dollars to say thanks to the devs - even though I know it likely isn't theirs anymore.)

That's true, i wish they made a new cultures with this artstyle. The gameplay reminds me a lot of The Settlers 3&4, and it looks very similar too.

8th wonder has a map editor, new campaign, new maps in general, new egyptian tribe, new special npcs (werewolves and dragons), difficulty options, more bugfixes and a few quality of life changes. that's all i noticed but other than that its 99% the same game
