Is Underling's name ever mentioned in Re;Birth2?
I bought Neptunia Mk2 yesterday for my PS3, since my PC is broken and I can't play the PC version.

And one bizarre thing I noticed is that Underling's name is actually mentioned in Mk2. But not in Re;Birth2.
It's Linda.

EITHER THAT - or I'm ♥♥♥♥ at paying attention to small details.

Ugh, someone fill me in - is Underling's name ever mentioned in Re;Birth2 and am I just ♥♥♥♥ at following the small details?
Or is Underling's name legitimately never mentioned in Re;Birth2?

If it is the second one, then...why?

She's definitively an underling..

It's never mentioned, because [reason].. or probably because of the localisation.

Her name is only in opening :Vivian:

She keeps calling herself "Linda-sama" in the Japanese dub, but the localization cut it from her lines entirely.

She said her name the first time she was introduced, though the text does not display it

Underling is another proof for the poor translation.
It`s Nick Doerr`s doing. Lucky, he left. Rebirths got another, slightly better translation.
Agarest games suffered from the same.

Yup. It's a running gag of similar type to Mid-boss in the first Disgaea. And as usual Nicky Doerr's memerific translation efforts squashed that subtle bit.

The gang calls her Underling in the Japanese dub too, all the localization does is removing her line when she introduces herself as Linda.

Even then they didn't really do that. In the cutscene where she first shows up, she introduces herself as Linda, but the text doesn't acknowledge it, and for whatever reason the actress says it weirdly, like its part of the previous word rather than being a separate one.

It's also mentioned in the credits, though harder to notice than in the opening

She did say her name was Linda in both the English and Japanese versions, but the text says otherwise though. Pretty much it's because everyone at that time just wanted to call her Underling since that was pretty much her rank in the group she was in.

I mean, I do prefer Underling over Linda.

Poor Underling-sama. Yeah, I noticed the Lindas, but by then I'm already too used to identifying her as Underling and that remains what I label and call her in my mind.
