It is designed for local party play but is very fun over a stream as well. Instead of punting, why not run a curl route and accept a pass from the fine folks at Jackbox Games?
- You play either locally, or stream your game per twitch, skype or something alike if youre online
- The host who owns the game starts a new match
- Everyone (also the host) goes to jackbox.tv either per browser or per smartphone, and enters the roomcode that is displayed on the hosts screen (or stream) and also a nickname
- You are now filling this room up to 8 players. If the host is streaming, everyone else can still join this room as audience, which enables them to vote the answers, but not write answers themselfs
- When the match starts, everyone gets 2 questions on their choice of device (browser, smartphone). Thats why also the host has to have another device open with jackbox.tv, cause you should not show what you type (do remember though, it does not have to be a phone, you can use a browser on a second monitor for example).
Thats it!I have to say it's a shame that participants have to watch via stream, even with extra time the delay isn't the best (they see answers and results later than the host) and I'd expect the website to be able to just download the 100mb of assets to participants and provide a near instant mirror. I get this is a local game but I think they're missing out on an opportunity here for more distant playing if they simplfied that.
Still good job all and thanks for the detailed answer Bahzur.
