Won't Launch
I get to the point of the game displaying with things like "Play", the control setup, etc., but it isn't going beyond that once I hit the play button. The time I did get past, it took my serial number and never did anything after that.

I understand there are problems with this game currently, or something, but I haven't seen this particular one on the forums yet.

For anyone running Bitdefender, I think I have a fix for the problem of AA failing after pressing play. Here are 2 different ways to do it:
1-In Bitdefender--Go to Antivirus settings and turn off Active virus control.
Remember to turn on when done playing.
To avoid doing this every time you play here is
Method 2:
In AV settings go to exclusions tab.
Turn on top right button so exclusions are on.
Add this file to excluded processes:bmstartapp.exe. Allow it. It is in the binaries folder.
This file contains part or all of the securerom process and it seems BD has problems with it.
I hope this helps someone because i have been struggling with this for a few days, but finally now have it working.

Thank you very much. I was frustrated too and tried many potential solutions. Your post help me to solve it right!!!!

After about three hours of research and cookie crumbs from one "fix" to the next, the one that fixed it for me was downloading DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en).

I guess the problem is that I have DirectX 11, and you need DirectX 9.0c updates. This download installs all of the updates.

I didn't start for me when I pressed the play button on the menu, and then installed DX9, as ^1Keechers said. it runs now. Hope I won't run into any issues later.

It is believed that this problem is related to some downtime in the Steam service. The issue may have been caused because Steam was offline when the game was checking for DLC or syncing saved games. We have reported the issue to Steam and they are looking into the cause.

Please try the following steps to see if the issue can be worked around:

- Go to Macintosh HD/Users/[username]/Library/Caches/com.feralinteractive.bmac (please see http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/22/access-user-library-folder-in-os-x-lion/ if you are not seeing your user Library as it is hidden in recent versions of OS X)
- Delete the folder named 'com.plausiblelabs.crashreporter.data'
- Relaunch the game
Silly Billy 22 ENE 2014 a las 12:07 p. m.
Is there a windows version of that folder to delete? i tried searching for it but it didn't find anything.
Silly Billy 23 ENE 2014 a las 4:32 a. m.
Huh, well I went to the folder for the game in steam and found bmlauncher in the binaries folder, right clicked it and went to properties>compatibility and set it to windows 7 (though I'm already on windows7) and then i also ran it as administrator and it worked! Not sure which of those things did the trick as I didnt test it after setting compatibility, but hey it works now, sweet.
edit: okay.....it worked once, but now it won't work again? I literally did the exact same thing, right clicked on bmlauncher and ran as administrator but now it doesn't do anything at all? What the heck is going on here. Won't launch from library either. This is so weird and frustrating.

hi i have had the same problom as a lot of others the way i solved this was to make sure i had framework 2.0 installed then i wnt to my computer, programs, steam,steamapps, common, Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY, Binaries. In there loof for a file called BmLauncher right click and rename it BmLauncher.exe mske sure steam is running but not playing after you have put .exe at the end double click BmLauncher.exe and the game will start send that file to ur desk top and run the game that way this worked for me hope it helps

Strange, everyone finds there own solutions and they don't work for other people. Never thought it could be that hard to run legit bought game.

I guess the problem is that I have DirectX 11, and you need DirectX 9.0c updates. This download installs all of the updates.

I tried all the other suggestions including validating the cahce, uninstalling/re-installing local content, trying to download GFWL(though I think all you can get now is the marketplace anyway!?), running the 3 .exe files within the game foler in admin mode. But in the end it was the above fix that enabled me to launch the game in Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
Ran the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer and it started. I was surprised after so many failed attempts.
These assault courses to get to games you've legitimately purchased not only suck all the good out of staarting a new game, but really make you wonder why you're not just downloading a torrent instead. I mean where's the benefit of purchasing through Steam when you have to jump through all these BS hoops with every game before you can play it?

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

So, after all this time there is no real fix for everyone? We just have to try each of solutions listed above and hope it will work for us?
