Game won't load passed launcher.
Hi, This is my first time buying a game off of steam and I can't seem to load Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY edition. I bought this off the humble bundle, installed it successfully, and then pressed play on Steam. I'm brought to the Batman Arkham Asylum launcher page which gives the 4 options (Play, Settings, View Readme File, Exit) but after pressing play...nothing

Here's the list of things i've tried already:

1. Rebooted my computer several times, after each tried solution
2. Reinstalled Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition
3. Downloaded and re-installed Games for Windows Live Marketplace
4. Downloaded Batman Arkham Asylum Patch 1.1 (When trying to run, it states that Batman cannot be found)
5. Turned off Internet Security Firewall
6. Reinstalled Steam several times.
7. Installed all the files from the \redist folder. (eg. direct x, nvidia file etc.)

I'm hoping someone can help me, I was so excited to play this and apparently I can't :(

System Details: Windows 8, Intel 4000 HD, core i7

Thanks in advance for any help!

Same exact problem dude. I have Windows 8 too, so I'm hoping that's not the main issue. Hoping someone can help

Do you get any errors at all? Do you click play and it just doesn't run or is there an error?

I might be able to help, I'm just going to assume you press play and nothing happens.
Firstly, go into the task manager (dunno how to do that in windows 8), press play on the batman Arkham Asylum launcher and see what happens, check if a new process starts (ShippingPC-BmGame.exe).

The more details I get the more likely I'll be able to help.

If a new process starts, then ends a second or two after, it's crashing.
If it starts and just sits there doing anything then you should wait like 10 minutes, if it doesn't load then you should shout numerous curse words in the general direction of your monitor.

Also search the installation folder for some sort of error log or crash log file, usually pretty obviously named.

"update everything" tends to fix 99% of issues with games, they have updates for a reason lol, glad you figured it out.

Yea, but my logic was "if they put that ver of DirectX with game it must work with it" :squirtyay:

if you're using an AMD card update your drivers - possibly the most recent beta.
otherwise try running it in windowed mode (seems to have probs w/ full screen).
i have a suggestion worked for me
Go to control panel; then go to programs and features; then on the left column there is an option for Turn windows features on or off; click on it, you will find that not all the options are selected; select all the options then click on ok, wait for 2 minutes for the changed to be applied and then try to run the game; worked for me; good luck to you.
