Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY - Movement/map problem
I recently bought the GOTY edition here on Steam and played through the game. Immediately after completion of the main story however, I came across the first problem. Every time I open the map, the map view scrolls continously to the right, until it reaches the right end of the map. At first it was barely noticeable, very slowly moving and all the other controls to move the map view worked. However, it became much more intense later. So intense that now, trying to move the map view in any way (click and drag, arows, click) doesn't work at all and the map continues to move right. The only way to move the map view back is to press "ctrl" on the keyboard to reset the map view over Batman's location, but that just works for a moment before the map view starts going to the right again.

Just as I was wondering what was happening, a day later (today) a similar issue arose with the movement controls. Batman was continuously walking to the right and slightly back, with the camera also following him by rotating. Any movement key works fine so far, but when attempting to stand still, the character just constantly does that, which is very irritating. The camera also becomes unmovable when that happens, meaning that you cannot stand still, or use the camera to survey the room. I am worried the movement controls might stop working too soon. The camera does work when using the movement controls i.e. moving. It only stops working when attempting to hold still.

I thought this might be a hardware problem, keyboard or something but it doesn't add up. Additionally, Batman is moving to the right slower than he would if the right movement key ("D", or ->) was constantly pressed.

I tried restarting the game, restarting the computer (just in case), starting a new game in a different save slot, nothing. Should I attempt to reinstall or change the compatibility settings? thanks.

I just got Arkham Asylum for Mac, and I'm having the exact same issue as described. It's a serious PITA and makes navigating the game very difficult.

Do you have a controller hooked up to the computer? If so, then disconnect it if you're playing with the keyboard. May as well disconnect any extra devices that aren't being used. Something is causing interference with the keyboard controls.

Like I said, back then, it got fixed by itself for me and I never encountered it again. You can try Fenixx's advice I guess. Hopefully that's it Good luck resolving it.

I had a problem where he wasn't standing still. It went away when I unplugged the controller plugged it back in and exited the game then ran it.
