This is good! I like it so much, I'll mark it as answer. I don't think the mod I want exists, so this is as good as it gets :-)
In short, a mod that makes Batman kill isn't only massively lore-breaking, it defeats the core idea of everything that Batman is.
Now, about "Dishing out punishment isn't his job", this is so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I have problems to even start thinking about it.
EVERYTHING he does is NOT his job.
You can't just say that the things you don't like are not part of his job and everything is ok.
That is not how logic works. Sorry.
Did you ever listen to some of these criminals? Don't know which Batman it was, but when I listened in to their talks when they did not know I was there, they said things that made me mad. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MAD!
We already see the state of the city. We see the mental state of the criminals. We see the helplessness of the police and justice. But it is ok to let these criminals go back to the streets after some jail time because ... it is the current law in the US or something?
What exactly is your reasoning why it is ok to release killers and rapists back to the streets?
Because that is the law? Then you should be the first to want to imprison Batman, because he is a vigilante. And that is against the law.
So... either you are against breaking the law or you are against doing bad things.
This is - as you see in every Bat game/movie - not the same.
Choose your poison, but please don't tell me that it is ok to release killers and rapists back on the streets.
First, aliens are one of the exceptions to Batman's "No Killing" rule because most of the aliens he's encountered are either his allies, or peaceful anyway. The ones that aren't peaceful can't be stopped through any means SHORT of killing them, or are so devoted to horrible goals that they can't be talked down. He doesn't like killing them, but he knows the consequences of not doing so are much worse.
Second, Arkham Asylum is such a horrible place for the inmates there is that it's a worse punishment than execution. It's pretty much a living hell, and the only one that really likes it there is Joker. The ordinary criminals in Gotham get sent to Blackgate Prison, but the insane ones get sent to Arkham Asylum because it's the only place near Gotham that's equipped to handle them.
Finally, when Batman started as a superhero, Gotham City's police force was incredibly corrupt. At least 95% of the officers were on the take, and then-Detective Lieutenant James Gordon was the only one we know of who was honest. Batman was needed at the time because his actions led to a severe dent in crime. By the time the game takes place, Gotham has one of the most honest police forces in the D.C universe, and he's the reason for it. In short, he's not your average vigilante.
