Game not launching

Spent hours trying to get rid of the "external component has thrown exception" error and finally did it. I thought i could finally get back to playing this game but now it wont launch. Every time i start the game, the launcher opens, but as soon as i press play it closes and takes me back to steam. Any tips on this?

Did you try launching the game directly?
On Steam:

1. Go to the Library
   
2. Click on the game icon
   
3. Select “Manage \ Browse local files” → It will open a folder window
   
4. Double click “Binaries”
   
5. In this folder find “ShippingPC-BmGame.exe”
   
6. Double click it.

If this doesn’t work, try:
On Steam:

1. Go to the Library
   
2. Click on the game icon
   
3. Select “Properties” → It will open the property window for the game
   
4. Click “Installed Files”
   
5. Click “Verify integrity of game files”
   
6. Wait until it finishes performing the action
   
7. Try running the game again.

tried both methods and neither worked for me.

Same happened to me (though i was unable to get rid of it). I did both the verification of the integrity of game files as well as outright re-installing the game. The issue persit.

Try using the following launcher by pcgamingwiki:

https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2637-batman-arkham-asylum-advanced-launcher/

Once you copy this in, don't launch via steam - double click the launcher in the binaries folder. When I did this, the game worked immediately. Screen overlay and achievements are working for me.

Note: I tried the following BEFORE the above and it never worked until the launcher above was used:

- Reinstalling the game
- Verifying files
- Added permission to firewall for the (original) launcher
- Changed compatibility mode for (original) launcher to Windows 7
- Modified DefaultEngine to match my resolution (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\BmGame\Config)
- Set Square Enix folder in My Documents to not be restricted to read only
- Reinstalling DXSETUP (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\redist\DirectX)
- Reinstalling PhysX_9.08.14_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\redist)
- Reinstalled Nvidia PhysX directly from the Nvidia site
- Reinstalling vcredist_x86 (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\redist)

Installing DirectX from the game's folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\redist\DirectX

For those still trying to get it to work, it worked for me by downloading DirectX from

"https:// // www. microsoft. com/ en-us/download/details. aspx?id=8109"
Sorry I had to add spaces because steam is removing the link :(

Run the application - Create a writable folder - And double click DirectX setup from that folder

Hey man, I did all this and it is still not working. I've also installed the DirectX.

What could I be doing wrong? I'm this close to return it, I don't know what else I can do.

I am having trouble trying to get this to work, how do try to get it going? it comes up with an error every time I laugh the game saying if I continue them it will try to run it and when I hit continue the error keeps coming up and I can't get passed the little menu screen
