I am playing this game on Windows 11 and it is loading and working without any problems. Just saying.
I went to windows features and verified the selections under net3.5 by double clicking on the file folder and then checking the two boxes in it. I just did that, restarted my PC, and then the game is running smoothly. Just did the bane fight.
I tried everything in this thread only thing that worked for me was reinstalling One drive app and reinstalling the game on a different drive. I had disable One drive and uninstalled it recently so I guess it was tied to my original Batman install. Also I was having same problem with Arkham City but the reinstall of PhysX worked for that one. I am on Windows 11 btw.

Its great if you guys got it working but just remember that Arkham Asylum is game from 2009 and legacy titles may or may not function correctly on Windows 11. Arkham Asylum has been having compatibility issues since Windows 8, let alone 11. If you want to play older games, something a lot of people will do is have a separate PC from their primary one that has multiple OS generations, and just pick the operating best suited for the game they want to play. In Arkham Asylums case, this would either be Windows Vista or 7. Basically comes down to which one you have.
have you tried finding the .exe and running the game in windows 7 compatibility mode?

Where do I buy Windows 7 or 8 in 2022 ?
Had this issue and I solved it by downloading Physx.
I will add I think my Epic Batman installs conflicted with Steam Batman installs I got those free and even though I uninstalled them and pretty sure I never had them installed at at same time they created problems with a couple of them. Anyway I got all of them working on Steam and AA has that mod that improves the framerate and textures, on max settings it looks better than the remaster on PS5/Series imo.
Y'all, you're complicating this way too much.

Arkham Asylum needs:
1) Legacy Physx to be installed. Get it from Nvidia's website
2) It NEEDS .NET Framework (3, I believe). Go to Control Panel - Change or Remove Programs - Upper left corner - Add or Remove Features - Uncheck .NET 2-3-4-5. Press ok. RECHECK everything related to .NET 2-3-4-5. Press ok. Windows might say it's downloading extra stuff. Let it.

BONUS: Getting Visually C++ 2005-2022 compilation from TechpowerUp is always a good idea also.

Enjoy a perfectly running game on Windows 10/11.

Neither Asylum, City, Origins or Knight have "compatibility issues on Windows". It's a myth. The games need specific dependencies. That's not really Windows related.
One drive does mess up some game installs where you cant run it again until u enable disable it and since windows defaults to activating it on windows 11 it just auto started sync stuff I never turned on my new system that is a windows problem. it was not just the batman games either it caused problems with although it was maybe 5% of my games total.
Hi all

I have found the solution for my problem. Thought I would share and it would help others. Go to settings > windows security > virus and threat protection > allow an app through controlled folder access and add the launcher app and the game exe file to allowed apps. It fixed my issue. Hope it helps you guys too.

First, verify and patch the game:
1. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Local Files, Verify Integrity of Game Files.
2. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Updates, Automatic Updating.

Did you install the legacy redistributables that Windows 10 and 11 lack?:
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ DirectX \ DXSETUP
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ PhysX_9.08.14_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ vcredist_x86
NET Framework 3.5 Runtime:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21

Thank you. This worked for me :)
