On Epic Games Luncher no problem, but i noticed that it also installs the old directx driver that fixed the Steam versions as well, so that's probably it
1. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Local Files, Verify Integrity of Game Files.
2. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Updates, Automatic Updating.
Did you install the legacy redistributables that Windows 10 and 11 lack?:
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ DirectX \ DXSETUP
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ PhysX_9.08.14_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ vcredist_x86
NET Framework 3.5 Runtime:

what was/is the directx driver version?
At the last version DirectX 9

Please advise.
I followed the instructions from JonoAMono above and no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and no luck. At this point I'm stumped.
Arkham Asylum requires cloud sync enabled in order to launch, even if sync is enabled on the general Steam client. Make certain that your game is cloud synchronized; from the Library page right-click on Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition and select Properties > General, then click the tickbox that reads: Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition.
1) my Win recognized the need for some framework file and it popped up a white box suggesting the download of it and I did it. (donno if it was the 3.5 or what, sorry),
2) tried again to Play, no dice.
3) verified the files and checked that the auto-updater was already on and tried Play, no dice.
4) Restarted Win just in case bc of the framework download, tried Play, no dice.
5) After I searched these forums and found what to do I combined what JonoAMano and krh1771 had already hinted:
- find In YOUR Steam folder, where the game is, this folder:
\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\redist
-there RUN (or just double click) both the applications:
a) physX_9.03
b )vcredist
-then open the "DirectX" folder in that same folder. Find the only application there called "DXSETUP", and RUN that (not the application extensions).
6) Tried again Play w finger crossed, and what da ya know, game works like a charm. Only the initial window of the game is always very small but having the "full screen" setting turned on, the game then launches fully after hitting the Play inside the game.
I hope this helps somebody later
Ps. Okay, one hick-up is that the hole game JUST crashed so I came here to report this all :p
