I have tried everything from internet to resolve the issue but nothing worked.
.NET Framework issue keeps on coming every time I try to run the game
Please help me with this issue.

Though Arkham City and Arkham Knight are running fine

I confirm on windows 11 it is impossible to play, it throws up the screen of death (bluesreen) after a few seconds

On Epic Games Luncher no problem, but i noticed that it also installs the old directx driver that fixed the Steam versions as well, so that's probably it

First, verify and patch the game:
1. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Local Files, Verify Integrity of Game Files.
2. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Updates, Automatic Updating.

Did you install the legacy redistributables that Windows 10 and 11 lack?:
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ DirectX \ DXSETUP
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ PhysX_9.08.14_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ redist \ vcredist_x86
NET Framework 3.5 Runtime:

I've been playing this on a Windows 11 PC for a few weeks and today (6/15/2022) it won't run. I click play it says starting then it changes back to play. I haven't changed anything on my PC that could have affected it in this manner.

Please advise.

Update:

I followed the instructions from JonoAMono above and no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and no luck. At this point I'm stumped.

Is the game allowed in your antivirus settings?

Arkham Asylum requires cloud sync enabled in order to launch, even if sync is enabled on the general Steam client. Make certain that your game is cloud synchronized; from the Library page right-click on Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition and select Properties > General, then click the tickbox that reads: Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition.

I bought the Batman bundle yesterday, and starting w the first game I ran to this very issue. Having read multiple posts on this, here is how it got fixed on my win 11, chronologically. After the obvious ones, download and hit the green play;

1) my Win recognized the need for some framework file and it popped up a white box suggesting the download of it and I did it. (donno if it was the 3.5 or what, sorry),
2) tried again to Play, no dice.
3) verified the files and checked that the auto-updater was already on and tried Play, no dice.
4) Restarted Win just in case bc of the framework download, tried Play, no dice.
5) After I searched these forums and found what to do I combined what JonoAMano and krh1771 had already hinted:
- find In YOUR Steam folder, where the game is, this folder:
\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\redist

-there RUN (or just double click) both the applications:
a) physX_9.03
b )vcredist

-then open the "DirectX" folder in that same folder. Find the only application there called "DXSETUP", and RUN that (not the application extensions).

6) Tried again Play w finger crossed, and what da ya know, game works like a charm. Only the initial window of the game is always very small but having the "full screen" setting turned on, the game then launches fully after hitting the Play inside the game.
I hope this helps somebody later :steamhappy::steammocking:

Ps. Okay, one hick-up is that the hole game JUST crashed so I came here to report this all :p

@Hexican, Asylum requires .NET Frameworks 3.5 to run, but you might already have it. You can check that by opening Windows Features, or by opening a File Explorer window and type Windows Features in the upper right text field. Look for .NET Framework 3.5 and click to enable. Otherwise, click on this 3.5 Runtime installer if needed:

I have tried all the solutions from steam community and online. No luck. The game shows the .net framework unhandled exception error every time I open it.

Did you restart your computer after installing the legacy redists? Is Steam cloud enabled on the game itself, not just on the general Steam client? Is the game allowed through your antivirus preferences?
Black Bird Jul 9, 2022 @ 7:25am
did everything mentioned among. I was trying to fix it for almost an hour. Nothing seems to clear that .Net unhandled exception error.

I disabled one drive. Now, I am getting to the small batman screen that appears before start up. But, nothing happens after that. The .net error show up anyway but I click continue and get to that small screen. But, nothing happens beyond that point.
JonoAMano Jul 9, 2022 @ 1:03pm
Repeat the suggestions listed above. Now that OneDrive is disabled, redists should now install to the same drive where you installed Steam.
