Game crashes right after start up

I get the the launcher for the game, but once I launch it the game only runs for a second or two then crashes. I don't get any error message it just closes.

I've already tried verifying the game files, redownloaded directx and the game itself.

Having the same issue and have tried the same things you have. I'm getting extremely frustrated. Why put a game on sale if it doesn't even work.

I actually do receive an error message, something about "assertion failed"

Aright, I do have the same problem, and believe me, it stems from the fact that your save file might be corrupt, this is especially tricky to resolve and even now, ive been unable to fix this since the tinkering I did made steam cloud (which is broken for this game, more specifically yoiu can check pcgamingwiki's arkham asylum page and scroll down to save file) backup the corrupted save file, this causes that error message everytime I try to launch the game, I believe you only get to the "press start" screen before crashing. Now this problem could be fixed simply by allowing us to delete the cloud since it's known to be broken and potentially cause it to backup corrupted save that may lock you out of your game, i havent been able to cause conflict using all the method thats usually done, so I hope this might help a bit, you could also try the pcgamingwiki's guide to "fiz" this issue, just beware, you migght wanna backup the "35140" folder on your steam userdata (its the game's save file)

This your first time you playing this game or no? Because if it is, it might have been some software related issue (compatibility and stuff), but If youve already played this before, check my reply before

Whenever I have problems with games crashing on startup when trying to launch them for the first time, it's always because of Visual C++. This game requires Visual C++ 2005 x86 to be installed in order to run. Normally, the game installs it automatically, but you should check your installed apps in Windows to make sure that it is.
