No Floor in Medical Building

When I entered the Medical building, the room is black, and there's no floor. I fall to my death (takes a long time to fall), get the cut scene, and when I continue with the game, it resumes in the middle of the fall. I'm running the GOTY edition on Windows 10 64 bit with nVidia 1080 card. Turning off PhysX didn't help. I didn't have this problem when I ran the game back in Win 7 on a different machine. The rest of the game up to this point was just fine. Checked the file integrity in Steam, and it passed.
One other oddity, each time I start the game it installs Direct X
Any ideas?

Mine does not even continue with the game, batman just dies and the restart is with him falling again until dead. Any one seen a fix

Disable DirectX to fix the floor texture glitch:
1. Locate DefaultEngine.ini: Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ BmGame \ Config \ DefaultEngine.ini
2. Open DefaultEngine.ini with NotePad
3. Locate "AllowD3D10=True" and change True to False
4. Save file and restart computer

Also, if you're verifying games, make certain they're patched:
Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Updates, Automatic Updating.

I've done these steps and they haven't fixed it. There's also a glitch where my progression went from 19%-1019%.

All of the following might not work because you're already stuck in freefall, but it's worth a try. Delete both the DefaultEngine.ini and your Documents BmGame folder, then start the game. The game will create new files and folders, or you can verify and patch the game to reacquire fresh files:
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ BmGame \ Config \ DefaultEngine.ini
Documents \ Square Enix \ Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY \ BmGame \ Config

Both verify and patch if needed, then test the game:
1. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Local Files, Verify Integrity of Game Files.
2. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Updates, Automatic Updating.

If no improvement, let's make certain you have all the redists that W10 lacks, starting with those from the game folder. Disable both PhysX and DirectX again just to be safe, and restart your computer after installation before testing the game:

You state the game is on the HDD; assuming Steam is on a main drive? If you can spare the disk space, it would be far better to get both Steam and the game on the same drive. Other than that, make certain Steam Cloud Sync is enabled, not only for the general Steam Client but on the game itself. Select game in Library, right-click Properties > Updates, then click the box that reads: Enable Steam Cloud Synchronization for Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition. Let us know your results.

Hello thank you for replying. I’ve done all these steps too but I’m still stuck on a completely black screen and I can’t do anything and the game has now been put on my ssd with steam and I’ve enabled the cloud sync.

How far into Medical did you get? When the glitch occurred, did you enter from the front door or from the rooftop? I ask because you might be able to salvage this save if you're willing to experiment. You didn't get that far into the game, so with DX and PhysX disabled you might be able to replay up to that point without further incident, but let me know.

the issues not at medical, It's at the arkham mansion when you had to enter from the vent I believe except once i entered from the vent and opened the door to the next room it was just pure blackness and I thought maybe it was just invisible or didn't render in so i walked back out and in but nothing changed so i walked forward into the darkness thinking maybe it was apart of the game but then I began to endlessly fall.

Ok, I'm going to send you a friend invite and request your save file. What I'm going to try is using the console to gravity up to outside the Mansion, enter into a texture-stable area near to before the glitch, then have you play forward from there with settings disabled.

To anyone interested, this salvage attempt was a no-go. Until a working solution is found, I'm going to recommend deleting those glitched saves and starting a new game.

As of writing this comment, nothing suggested in this forum post has worked for me either. When I walk into the Medical building, the walkway itself that's attached to the wall and the entrance is visible, everything beyond that is black. I found an alternate route, went through the door after blowing down the wall and it's all black going that way as well.

This game (and City & Origins) need warnings on them at the time of purchase that it's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that people keep manual backups of their saves to prevent progression loss.
