Wuthering Waves

Wuthering Waves

112 GB on PC, yikes...
I love WuWa but that is a lot of GB for one game...Are they trying to optimize the game as they go? It shouldn't be too hard to do with a lot of money they earned this year.

Still not as beefy as Oblivion tho but close.
What has optimization to do with the game file's sizes? You want HD textures? You want huge areas and FMV's? Then deal with it. The "2008 under 50 GB gaming"-era is over.

Most games in that time fit on a single DVD, that means <4.7GB

A gacha game should be nowhere near that size, especially when we're barely starting the third region. Like come on we're getting to Ark levels of space. Hell it's bigger than KCD2 and about the same as BG3.
I assume it is a Helldivers 2 situation, where there is just duplicated assets...super annoying

maybe you should check helldivers 2 update, how they shrunk the game size from 153gb to 23gb
and how they shrunk it? yes they now programming 2 versions of the game konsole and pc, something gasha company dont want

the only optimation i could see: 240p texture pack for people that want a slimmer ugly version of the game

old content remove will come but i dont think it will remove more then 10-15 gb, since most are texture and audio files from npc/countrys we visited and can stil hear and see all the time

1) <4.7GB is still <50GB.

2) Most of the upper end games utilized compression. Done correctly, a DVD could hold around 30GB worth of compressed files (on average). Granted, most consoles using DVDs lacked hard drives, so compression wasn't really an option (but did exist on discs for PCs). Some titles had more than one DVD disc as well.

3) All that aside, consoles such as the PS3 (launched in 2006) used Blu-Ray, a media that can hold 25GB (or 50GB for dual-layer, but I don't recall if PS3 could read dual layered discs). With compression, that number could have reached up to 180GB, but again, wasn't a much used option for console titles (but was used for PC titles). Some titles in that era though did require that the console have a hard drive (which suggests that some compression was taking place) as well as an internet connection (which means downloading of files could have occurred).
112GB is not that bad tho

Yes, it is that bad. 2-3 times the size of Expedition 33 depending on the version. God knows how many times the size of Minecraft. Nearing the size of Baldur's Gate 3 while lacking any sense if quality in comparison. Same size as KCD2, a game with far better gameplay and actual content. Hell, it's comparable to freaking Ark, which has been the but of all jokes related to file size for ages.
only 2 times the size and is a roundbased rpg without a full openworld in the same grafic like the fights

if the openworld would used the same grafic then you would have expedtion 330GB

EDIT: and if you like the other games more: go play them! your free to like what you want but harddrive space isnt a factor, not with 10TB hdd/ssd around...

The same way HSR and ZZZ does it. They remove completed quest data. Cutscenes, audio, and in some cases, areas only visited within those quests.
