Wuthering Waves

STEAM PREDOWNLOAD - FSR/XeSS
I understand that the game has so many optimization issues that Kuro Games have decided to ignore them and instead implement systems like Frame Gen 4X (DLSS 4) to simulate some semblance of "optimization" (obviously without specifying the cost of using Frame Gen 4X). Still, they could at least have included pre-download on Steam. "The company that listens"—but only when it’s convenient; otherwise, everything gets ignored.

FSR is still stuck at 2.0, and now with 3.0 they’re locking it to specific video cards, even though AMD’s technology works on all GPUs (same goes for XeSS). After more than a year, they’re still hiding behind “gifts” instead of actually optimizing the game. Honestly, I’d rather have less fluff and a stable game than the other way around.

I can understand that optimizing the game is tiring, but if you choose to allow downloading the game on Steam, at least include the option for pre-download. Not everyone has a fast connection (and this depends not on the player, but on the area where they live), so pre-download is a priority feature.

I'm sorry to keyboard-warrior, but the game is extremely optimized; Unreal Engine is just a difficult engine for perfect optimization. UE4 has more optimized lighting and doesn't have the performance-eating Lumen and Nanite, and UE5 has more optimization for open-worlds. They're even using a couple of custom technologies to specifically improve performance (such as a custom Temporal Anti-Aliasing that's fully compatible with the cel-shading which works on mobile as well) and strict shadow maps that lower the framerate and resolution of the shadows such as when in combat. Even the ray-tracing is optimized; using reflection probes instead of screen-space ray-tracing.
But I do agree with the upscaling part, why are we stuck on last-gen upscaling? My only thought would be that it has issues with compatibility or some graphical artifacts.
That pre-download feature would also be extremely helpful.

(This video goes into detail on the game's optimization and lighting if you care.)
I feel like this thread is mainly to express frustration with the download time.

Optimization is a long, never ending process, especially when they keep updating content.

It is far from perfect, but they do it every patch if not, none of us could have run this game if it stayed like it was at launch.

Now about your main concern which is long download because your network is slow. Install the launcher instead. Do you really need to force yourself with Steam if pre-download is your main concern?

Have you ever thought Steam need to be compatible with pre-download also? I can't remember a game on Steam where they allowed pre-download asset before going live. Correct me if I am wrong.

Go to Epic Store or even PS5 and let me know if any of those platform allow Pre-Download.

This video is very educational. Thanks.
i don't know about this...

ppl might "boo" and downvote this post but...

it seems like that ppl think they r "intitled" to everything even though the don't match the expectations.
and this seems to be more and more the case in modern gaming.

if u got a potato network i do think u should try to fix/upgrade it instead of asking the game companies to adjust to your demands widhout a good reason.

i know slow downloading can be annoying but its something u can fix yourself to some extend.

if u whould chose to join a F1 race with a mini cooper and u whould complain about your cooper's maximum speed beeing lower then the F1 cars then the rules won't magicly change so that the F1 cars rn't allowed to drive abouve your cooper's max speed.
its u who needs to adapt to the F1 laws and not otherwise.

i know there r some poor countries in wich gaming can be horrable with slow network and stuff but the game companies jsut can't be bothered to hold back just cause of small minority that can't keep up with the modern gaming pace.

the good old times of cheap gaming 8bit devices r over.
gaming just ain't for everyone anymore.

To make a statement like this means you don't even understand the bare minimum basics of how service providers work.

From Epic, you download the official launcher from which you then download the game; it's no different from downloading the launcher directly from their website. Furthermore, the fact that other platforms don't allow you to do this is no justification; it remains a problem regardless.

I don't have any network issues, I have gigabit and it takes no time at all to download an update. I've been playing WuWa since day one, I've seen how the game has evolved and, honestly, I've played it enough to be able to express a concrete opinion. The developers themselves are aware of the optimization gaps (maybe if you had followed the anniversary live stream where they mentioned it as a key point, you would know).

From the beginning, the game has been limited in its graphics-related features precisely because there are serious problems (the first patches did not support 120 fps because the game continued to crash on multiple platforms, even high-end ones), and more than a year after its release, every update has some problems.

I appreciate the game. Unlike many who have abandoned it because of its performance, I have continued to play it despite the various problems.

So I'm not speaking as a “frustrated player,” but simply as I always have for this game (and for all games in general), expressing my opinions and doubts in the hope that they will be taken into consideration.
The fact that you don't appreciate my comment is irrelevant to me and useless to the company.

So you see that no other plarform have done this? Could it be there is a reason? Would WuWa be the first to allow pre-download on other platform before going live? You forget Steam also have control over this and how they update their game.

If not, we copy the Epic Store and you basically install two launchers.

And I told you already. Use the Launcher instead, is there a reason you are refusing to do this?

Oh, wait, you have faster internet than me. So I guess this thread is you being a supportive fan trying to help the community out?

We should ask Valve if pre-download is a thing on Steam. Again, I don't remember any game on Steam that pre-download updates before going live.

As I said, this discussion was started to warn anyone who intends to download the game about the issues and, if this section is reviewed by the management team, to provide feedback. Furthermore, with Steam, you don't need to download the official launcher; I launch everything from Steam. As for the question "Does Steam allow pre-downloads?" the answer is yes, and it depends on the publisher, although from what I understand, the patch is handled a bit differently, so we can give the benefit of the doubt and assume the problem is also related to Steam.

Write it in-game and survey, you got a better chance there. This place don't even have moderator aside from Steam is.

Next update on the launcher would still be a big patch, guess you can download it one day earlier.

Um......Ok.

Can I ask which game does Steam have pre-download update before they go live? I update my library a lot, even Valve its own game doesn't have that.
