That said, it's hard to properly 'brick' your account, but you're facing an uphill battle from here. Zani is still strong enough with SRover and Verina, but it's also a somewhat mechanically demanding team. If you happened to get Danjin from your 4* pulls she's also a pretty difficult character but a solid sub DPS for Havoc Rover, giving you at least two decent enough teams to work with.
Some might face it less than other, though. If you are new, the good news is you still have a big chunk of reward to gain before the months end just by finishing the game quests, missions, events, etc.....
It is a good idea to “never” spend Astrite on anything beside limited characters banner. You should also go to the store and trade all of your Coral for extra Pulls (you gain coral when you pull, you can trade them for more pull at the store for free)
If you are close to the guarantee count but don't have enough time or tired of grinding. You can save that count for the next banner instead. The Devs already showcase their upcoming characters.
As for limited pulls If I was starting a new account I wouldn't be pulling for Zani until you have a lot of resources or are ready to shell money. I have Zani and Phoebe and they are both great but I wouldn't get that as a new account.
Indeed, I was smart enough to not invest any astrites into the Emerald. Luckily. I'll just continue everything else for now, save ToA for later.
Bit off-topic, but skill isn't necessarily an issue. I've always been good at this type of game and can learn rotations fairly easily. I can do the entire ToA I currently have without being hit once and having constant DPS. The problem is the tankiness of enemies. Even with my best playing, they're just too damn tanky for me to beat in time. That's why I think I should save ToA for later.
Saving ToA for later is probably a good call, though I still recommend at least attempting to clear each floor, even if you only get 1 star each time. It'll still grant you *some* astrite, and it's good practice when learning the in game dodge and parry mechanics.
If you really want Zani, you still have a few days (11 to 12 from the time of posting this), but my recommendation is honestly to cut your losses and save for her rerun. May the gacha gods smile upon you for your next character!
Okay so... I switched to Havoc Rover and passed every stable zone of ToA and the first parts of experimental zone 3 stars, first try. So uh... you can dissuade my little rant now LOL
