and pick Verina with your free 5* character ticket select
Do whatever you think is cool.
Don't be swept up in the meta. Fortunately this game has a good balance and you can practically use any character you like to clear end game content. Not to say some won't make it easier to do so, but you've got freedom to play who you like
The first 3 acts of Chapter 1's story are boring, but I recommend forcing yourself to pay attention to them(unless you have no interest in game stories in general). The story does get better. As others have mentioned never use asterites on the standard banners and Verina is the best option to use your standard 5 star selector on. Don't pull for Zani unless you can guarantee getting Phoebe as well.
don't chase every character unless you're rich. save your astrites for careful team building and use of ressources. use wutheringwaves.gg :)
Pick Verina with your free 5 star character ticket.
main story gives you trial character even of free ones so you don't have to worry about lving them if you dont want to. You will get overwhelmed by events and all the lingo etc so just take it 1 day at a time and learn and pace yourself. Main story is best to focus on first. The green orb (convenes) banners have a selector for your first character make sure you pick which one you want in 80 pulls, Same as the green orb weapon banner but this one you always get to pick which 5 star you want.

Just a fair warning, acts 1 and 2 are boring as hell to most people. Please give act 3 and beyond a chance (it should only take an hour or two to get to that point). Once you finish act 3, you will have an option to skip to the Rinascita storyline (you can do old story quests afterwards) or continue in order. I would recommend that you don't skip, as the 1.1 and 1.3 questlines are definitely worth your time. 2.0 content and beyond is simply amazing and beats every other gacha game I've played so far.

As for more generic tips: don't spend astrites on the blue pulls (lustrous tides), only spend them on limited time banners (prioritize characters over weapons generally).

Verina and Encore are the only good standard characters, with Verina being a universal support that slots into literally every team, and Encore being a pretty good damage dealer. I would recommend you use both of your selectors on them if you do not get one or the other on the beginner banner that only costs 40 pulls.

Spend your waveplate (daily energy) on boss materials for whichever characters you are building when you start. Bosses also drop other materials so it is the most worthwhile to farm when you're starting in my opinion, especially since you can buy the materials you need for weapons / skill tree from shops in huanglong (starting continent).

Yes, go to the subreddit and find the daily questions megathread. Shoot them a dozen questions, you'll get three dozen good answers.

Many People will disagree but: Chixian is the best 4* DPS investment.

prydwen.gg is a website with a lot of guides and information for most gacha games. Use that i suppose. It should also have beginner guides etc for starting players.
pull for characters you think look cool and dont worry about meta too much!
