DROD RPG: Tendry's Tale

DROD RPG: Tendry's Tale

Steam keys for the DROD games
Hey there! Congrats for finally making it on Steam! If it isn't too much of a bother I'd like to ask what will be of the people who bought the bundles this and other games in the franchise were featured in. Will we (since I bought them too) get them when the games come out?
Here's what I think were the games and their respective bundles:

DROD: King Dungan's Dungeon (aka DROD 1): Indie Gala Summer Dream, Groupees Shinyloot Bundle 8

DROD: Journey to Rooted Hold (aka DROD 2): Indie Gala Summer Dream, Groupees Shinyloot Bundle 7

DROD: The City Beneath (aka DROD 3): Indie Gala Summer Dream

DROD 4: Gunthro and the Epic Blunder: Self titled deal on IndieGameStand, Indie Gala Summer Dream, DROD RPG Tendry's Tale deal on IndieGameStand, Shinyloot Bundle 7

DROD RPG: Tendry's Tale (this game right here!): Self titled deal on IndieGameStand, Shinyloot Bundle 7

You should know Shinyloot is shutting down by the way, so having them give out keys is going to be a little harder than usual. You could try sending them to Groupees?

Thank you for your time!

I think, they will give keys out only to people who bought the games from the Caravelgames website.

I bought the games on GOG because there was the misinformation that you can register them on the Caravelgames website. Nope, nothing. :(

EDIT: From the email i received back in December.

Thanks for asking about Steam keys. Unfortunately, no, we won't be supporting handing out Steam keys for games bought on GOG or other distribution sites. We will be providing keys in an automated fashion to players who have bought and registered the DROD games on the Caravel Games website. We're not trying to be draconian; we don't have an automated way to verify and set up automated key distribution for purchasers from other game distribution channels, and it would be problematic for us to attempt this process manually.
Thanks for interest in our games on Steam, and sorry I couldn't give you a better answer.

That was a letdown. :( I still hope they going to update the GOG versions of their games.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt for a moment, perhaps he is unaware that the bundle sites themselves will hand this process of automated distribution of keys to people's accounts there and that this is something they do all the time for games new released on Steam that were previously in their bundles.

A lot of Indie developers seem to be under a misconception that they have to have buyers email addresses and distribute keys manually when they were previously in a bundle. The bundle site takes care of all of that. They simply need to contact them.

Hi, everyone, and thanks for your interest in getting DROD RPG and the other DROD games on Steam when they're released. Thanks also for asking about Steam keys, and Motoki for your clarifications. You are correct -- we were not aware of support offered by bundle sites for auto-distributing Steam keys to people's accounts there. I'll reach out to IndieGala, IGS, GoG, and Shinyloot (not sure how this one will work out) and if they take keys for DROD RPG (etc), I'll provide them there.

More news: we are reaching out to GoG today to provide them the latest version of DROD RPG (1.2.3).

Thank you Caravel Games! Much appreciated for your honesty :D

Thanks for taking the time to distribute the Steam keys. IGS shouldn't be a problem and Indiegala might be a bit slow adding keys.

Regarding Shinyloot:

http://www.shinyloot.com/forum/index.php/topic,86.0.html

The last date that purchases will be allowed is January 31st, 2016. After this date, all remaining credits will be forfeited. The last date we will be active for downloads, support, or general operational matters is March 17, 2016.

I would suggest that you distribute the keys for the Shinyloot Bundle 7 through Groupees. They'll be very fast and helpful with key distribution and you'll be sure that everyone can access their keys after March, 17th.

Thanks for the tip.

Update: we have provided DROD RPG Steam keys to IndieGameStand and they are ready for distribution.

We've reached out to other distributors and haven't heard back yet. We'll keep you posted.

I confirm that Steam keys HAVE been given out by IGS but only for DROD RPG, I guess GatEB will wait until its release on Steam?
Caravel Games  [developer] Feb 9, 2016 @ 11:11am
Thanks for confirming! Yes, we'll be adding keys on IGS for GatEB too.

Update: GatEB keys added to IGS. That's one channel taken care of. Still waiting for replies on the rest.

Redeemed GatEB as well! About the other games, they're going to be DLCs to this one right? So I'll be redeeming them as such?

No, DROD RPG plays completely differently from other "classic" DROD games and is incompatible with content created for them.

Caravel is probably going to release one of the "classic" DROD games (GatEB) and release the rest of the games as DLC for that one. At least that's what I remember the developers saying, but don't quote me on that.

On this very thread I recall him saying DROD 1 to 3 are going to be DLCs for GatEB that's why I was saying it. I know DROD RPG is different, I mean it says it in the title :P

Oh, I thought that when you said "they're going to be DLCs to this one right?" you were talking about DROD RPG, sorry.
