SOLUTION for co-op disconnects and lobby drops!!!!!

After searching and trying everything we found a solution, worked for me and my friend was going into your router and changing the MTU value to 0 or auto configure and apply settings. The max value in windows is 1500 and after checking windows it was already at max so we checked the router and thats where we found the issue. The higher the number the better the results.

After changing the values we never encountered another connection or lobby drop problem. So spread the word and hopefully this will fix everyones else problem so we can all enjoy this game.

Unfortunetly this only seems to work on the main campaign, as after my friend and i downloaded the dlc packs we encountered some disconnects trying the dlc levels. Though after a while it stopped it was rather frustrating at first.

My router has no option for changing MTU value :( any other solution?

EDIT:
if you cannot change the MTU value in your Router, you can change the value of your network adapter in Windows XP using this little tool:

http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe

First use the max-MTU check which determines your router/provider MTU settings and
then set the MTU of your Adpater to this number.
For me it was 1392 and afterwards the game worked fine for me (WinXP) and my Friend (Win8)

Thanks a lot for this solution, it worked for me. Before you posted this, I had tried a bunch of other fixes that worked for other people, but none worked for me. This is the only one that worked.
