He's honestly not really worth killing-- he drops an endgame stat sword, but if you try killing him from the get-go, you'll waste 1-2 hours in which you'll have probably gotten gear equal to it if you just played the game normally, or you kill him when you're leveled up near the end (took me like 15 min) and you get a sword that's slightly worse than the one you're using.
I don't remember how many you get in the temple, somehow, but I'm fairly sure that all you need is *inside* the temple. You're able to take the keys back out of the plinths, if you didn't know! Spend a key to get into one of the locked areas, find a key in there (I think?), take the key out of the plinth, put two keys in the queen's chamber room.
