Why free?
Excited to play this! been waiting for a KF like game, loved Lunacid. Curious as to why its free though. Is it a demo? small part of the whole? I'm always skeptical with free stuff lol

It's a prequel on an ancient engine.

you can purchase the OST if you want to.
There's a load of free games made on the same editor.

Mainly, because the game was built in an outdated engine, an outdated engine that's under ownership of FromSoftware. The tools are free, but Kira wanted to avoid any kind of copyright infringement by just letting the game be free, as opposed to charging for it. You can buy the OST though! If you want to support Kira.

Wouldn't have been the first game sold using the engine.

Huh. I'm not sure where I heard that explanation, then. Coulda sworn Kira cited that as the reasoning, but I might have misspoke.

Still possible that was Kira's reasoning. Fewer potential headaches involved in that approach, to be fair.
Its free because its using a software created by FromSoft. Its like If I were to create a mod mission for Thief the Dark Project or If I made a Left 4 Dead campaign and tried to sell it, I would be locked in the slammer and sued to oblivion. Thats why its free.

Literally disproved that in post 8
Because you can't expect gamers to pay for something like this in this day and age.

Actually Sword of Moonlight comes with a full license to utilize and commericalize anything made with it or any assets it comes with. functionallly they just sold the rights to make kings field games back in the day. So it's not a mod, it's a full game made made with a tool that was sold with the license to do whatever with it.

(Now granted, idk how that fully works out when using the modern fan-updated versions, but considering there's other commercial releases and clearly nobody cares i can't imagine there'd be any trouble.)

Its just personal choice, since this isn't exactly of the most impressive quality(having a blast with it but like, its very much a playaround project), Kira's done free games before, Spooky's was free after all
