I played the first two to death when I was younger.
there is strategy in Kuf 2 but it is mostly in a mmo way...you control a character and give order to troop you have (when in battle...) here is a video that will give you a idea...
https://youtu.be/HiptG_XEoGQ
i play kessen i think...but it is only on ps2...
but there not much
DW/Bladestorm/Kessen type game on pc sadly...one that you can battle tons of mobs at the same time...
but one problem is that koei make their game mostly for the console first (i think console is much more popular that pc in japan...but i can be wrong)(except for mmo game...but you dont need that much power for those games...)
so they port their game to pc recently wich is not bad but they quite expencive...
if they would make a game like DW/Bladestorm with the pc and capability in mind and optimise it first (instead of just a console port) that game would be really amazing!!!
(same problem for KUF 2...developer even said that the ps4 version will be prettier than the pc version...(WTF!!!) ps4 is not that powerful...pc ''can'' be alredy much more powerful that the console (any console)( of course more expencive)
You should try Kingdom Under Fire games that are for first Xbox called Kingdom Under Fire: Crusades and Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes.
You can command multiple units in RTS style and order them around, but you can only fight in a Dynasty warriors style with your protagonist and after you encounter another enemy unit (while not in combat, you're in RTS style view) and you can cast special abilities with units.
You can upgrade equipment of your hero, his two followers or equipment of the guys in your unit. And also, upgrade them into.. anything really.
