I am going to go ahead and say the problem is not my computer here. Perhaps there's something else, but I can guarantee my specs should not be the limiting factor.
Alongside of setting the compatibility mode to Windows 7 this should fix the CTD if you still experience them Open Nvidia ControlPanel In Manage 3D Settings, find the game (add it in if it's not listed, select the Launch_EA.exe ignore everything else) Find "Preferred refresh rate" And set that to "Application Controlled" !NOT! "use global setting (application controlled)" !Just! "Application Controlled" Confirm/Save and exit. If you have a Gsync monitor you can safely turn off Vsync, if not set Vsync to option nr 1, this is the option that gives you 60fps. Turning off Vsync gives you higher fps but it might be because of that the game crashes.
Same issue I had when trying to play the game 3 years ago when I bought it with another machine, and same issue so many other people seem to have complained about.
Specs are:
Windows 7
i7 3.4GHz processor
32GB ram
GTX 970
HyperX 500GB SSD
I really do not see why this game should not run with this.
Compatibility mode is on for Windows 7 already, I will check out refresh and VSync options and get back to you.
I will be honest, this is the first time I have had an issue with this in a game. Hopefully it is fixed and I will not get a freeze when I got more time to invest into the game.
Thank you for the help.
But i could fix that as well as the fps issues. What I did was turn off "Motion Blur" and set "Depth of field" to low. That fixed the fps issues for me. Also to stop the game from crashing set "Particles" to low. I have Vsnyc on 1 and can play this game without any lags and crashes now.
If you still have bad fps try to disable the integrated graphics card of your CPU in your device manager. The Koei games tend to use the integrated graphics card of the CPUs instead of your main card. I don´t know why this is but Dynasty Warriros 9 and some other games from them had the same issue.
