When are the mod tools being released?

I'll probaly wait to get this until there are at least a few mods in development. Does anyone know a release date for those?

it is 2016. I think mod tools are expected. Expecially for an ip as rich as this. I know the devs are hard at work on the next installment but the legions of fans can help by creating content. I think this shows respect to tthe fanbase. Where would steam be without mod tools and supporting user created mods?

I hope the next game is a rougelike space exploration game. That would be pretty cool.

At what point is it still the original game if you modded out the bad parts?

No, and they won't be, but it is an Unreal 3 game so I imagine it wouldn't be too much of a challenge to rip apart the archives and fiddle with the assets.
